We got a nice mid-winter break here in Nova Scotia the past couple of days. It's been around 10-12 degrees C (not sure what that is in F)for the past 3 days. Five of us local XB riders got out for a nice 3 hour rip yesterday. We had some wet riding and some dry riding but overall it was a blast and not something we normally get to do here in January without getting frostbite. One question though, I normally don't so much as roll my bike out of the garage when it's wet but I couldn't pass up a chance to ride. Any tips for removing the excessive amount of dirt and salt from my bike? I gave it a good wash but I don't think it'll ever be quite as clean again. |

Five of us local XB riders got out for a nice 3 hour rip yesterday. Geez, I can think of only one other XB owner within a few hours of me--and I don't know him at all. The only other ones I know of are close to 4 hours away. I can't imagine getting 5 XBs together at once. Hey, do you have any info on the North American incarnation of the "Isle of Mann" race I've heard might be held on Cape Breton? |

Yeah, it's pretty cool actually. There are probably a dozen or so XBs right in the Halifax area and a few tubers too. A few of us ride together often. I don't know any more than you do about that Cape Breton race but I did hear about it and I'll be keeping my ears open. If I learn anymore I'll post it on the Badweb for anyone thinking of coming this was this summer. |

Actually Ryan, I don't believe there are any tips to cleaning a very dirty bike, other than use lots of water, good quality soap (I use Mothers Car wash), lots of patience and alot of time. I spent an hour and a half Sunday morning and, although it is cleaner than it was, I will give it another going over before I put it away again. I even gave it a coat of wax!! I used the hose and let the water run over the top of the heads, making sure I got as many as the knooks and crannies I could. Afterwards I blew it down to try and dry it a little. All I have done here was quote the obvious, but I hope it helps all the same. Wasn't that crap on the headers something else? Must've been from that gypsum plant we drove by. I almost broke out the pressure washer to try and drive that mung outta there. Dan |

hey fellow canadian buellers!!! ya, we hit +9C here in Ottawa too late last week.....it was tempting....but alas....left it in storage. good for you for getting out!!! likely a dumb question: but how often do you guys get out onto Cape Breton Island? I drove some of that route in an RV a couple of summers ago....it must be amazing on a bike?? |

I drove the Cape Breton Trail back around '90 or '91, in a rented car. I'd love to do it on a bike--but unfortunately, I don't know if I could stand to ride all the flatlands between here (BC) and there. |

I can't imagine getting 5 XBs together at once. We've been known to get a small group together now and again.

10c = 50f Very warm for the great white north for sure. Day after New Years it was 71f (21.6c) here in Tennessee. That's about 30 degrees warmer than average. I keep waiting for the end of the world or something. |
