Was wondering on how to paint the bike......I'm getting rid of the shiny black and going to a satin black....should i have a body shop spray it?? I'm concerned about the paint sticking to the plastic and not chipping or flaking...any suggestions??? |

You need to use an adhesion promoter before doing the paint like any regular metal or fiberglass parts. I use Dupont 222S and it work fine. |

You can rough up the plastic and prime it if you want to. I used an SOS pad with the blue detergent on it and "scrubbed" all of the plastic. This removed dirt, oil, etc. and roughed it up enough for the paint to stick right on the plastic. I used semi-gloss black automotive paint with no clear coat. It has been on for a couple of months now with no sign of chipping or rubbing off. Look at my profile to see the new paint job. |

I just wet sanded mine and left it that way. It looks great for a couple months and then it starts to get polished again where my belly/chest rides on the airbox cover. I'll probably go ahead and paint it this summer. |
