Since there are quite a few track day riders and a large number of racers here in So CA - thought I'd start a thread for track days - figured why not?? |

For those of you wanting to try a taste of the Streets of Willow before the Buell factory track day in October: Harley-Davidson/Buell of Glendale invites you to join us for a track-day on the Streets of Willow Springs on Monday, June 25th. We will be joining our friends at Hypercycle for a day of riding, instruction, education and some friendly sport riding on one of southern California’s best tracks. With over 15 turns in 2.5 miles of looping asphalt, the Streets of Willow Springs has a little bit of everything from sweepers to chicanes and a banked 180 degree turn. If you have never participated in a “track day” before, the first thing you should know is this is not a race. The day is an opportunity for you to enhance your skill level in a safe, predictable and fun environment. You will learn more about you and your motorcycle in this one day than in months or even years of riding on the street. The group will be split into 3 groups, whichever you prefer to participate in: Novice, Intermediate and Expert. Requirements:A full face helmet Full finger gloves A full leather suit, or leather or Gortex pants and jacket that zip together. (Suit rentals are available at the track if you don’t have one.) Boots (over the ankle) Good tires All lights/turn signals must be taped (this can be done at the track) In order for your track experience to be as safe and enjoyable as possible, we recommend that you replace your tires and brake pads if they have not been changed lately. You will be using them both a lot! Our parts experts can walk you through the many tire options we have available. Don’t wait for the last minute. Registration Info: Register at www.hypercycle.com. When completing the forms online, enter “racer” in the Discount Code, and type in “Buell of Glendale” in the box immediately above the discount code. The price will be $112.50 If you have any questions or concerns at all, please contact Mario at 818 246-5618 ext 109, or email me at Mario@glendaleharley.com We hope to see you all there! Well boys and girls, the Buell Inside Pass track day at the Streets of Willow seems to still have a spot or two open. We're going to have a heck of a photo opportunity here. Bunch of us will be bringing out our pop-ups, coolers, tools and the like so if you wanted to RIDE to the track that day, we'll likely have all you'd need there to prep your bike (tape, tools, etc) COME ON OUT... gonna be a helluva time on the 17th of October. If you HAVEN'T signed up yet, WHY NOT??? Sign up! http://www.buell.com/en_us/news_events/insidepass/ willow.asp Bring your own bike too - not only do you get to demo the new bikes (and the 1125R) but you can really take the opportunity to work on your own streetbike's setup and handling! You'll have a TON of help out there. (Message edited by slaughter on August 25, 2007) |

"You'll have a TON of help out there." That was no lie. I was very impressed with the coaching staff. A great day until the winds kicked up (much like they are right now)! |

Well, I finally talked to the Inside Pass people and got my track day reservations. I will be doing the whole west coast swing of Las Vegas / Willow Springs / Infineon Raceway. See you all there! |

It looks like I am going to have one last track day before the end of the year. Some friends who came up to Infineon with me are telling me I need to do Buttonwillow with them next weekend. The track day is put on by The Motorcycle Club and goes from Dec. 6th thru the 8th. Saturday the 6th looks to be the best day for me as I can still go down to Long Beach for the IMS show on Sunday. FUN - FUN - FUN !!!

Since Buell did not help set up any west coast track days this year I have not turned a wheel anywhere other than on the street. That will change on Sunday the 23rd when I see how Buttonwillow Raceway is during the hot summer. If anybody happens to be out in the central valley come on out. Or better yet, sign your bad self up for the fun! |

http://www.takeit2thetrack.net I have never gone to one of their events before, but they seam to run on quite a few tracks. Streets of Willow over Labor Lay weekend, Pahrump Nv. the 12th and 13th of September, and Chuckwalla in October and November. |

I spoke with Eric, I think we'll probably pass on this event just due to heat...I'll melt in my leathers with the temps over 100. But come fall, we'll definitely be up for a Buttonwillow day. Al |

I did Ti2TT in June. It seemed well organized and certainly better than a few I've been to. Good people. I took the Rick Becker school/class they run. At $200 it was a bargain and well structured. If they offer it, I'd take it. Have fun, let us know how the tracks compare FWIW: I did take the school and that was 'Novice', so my impression comes from that 'group'. I should also note that there was lower attendance than I've seen at other events (a good thing for track days, but an indicator of the current economy). Lastly, I was in a great amount of back pain, so even though I stayed most of the day, I only got (barely) 3 sessions in. |
