Hi, Is it possible to put on a Buell XB9S the CRG Hindsight LS Billet Bar-End Mirror with the basic mount which clamps to the outer diameter of a 7/8” handlebar ? Or do I have to buy The Internal Bar-End Adapter Kit ? Thanks and Happy New Year | ||

Hey Jp, FWIW, when I first put on my CRG hindsight(left only), I just clamped it on the the plastic end cap. It was a bit risky I guess, but after seeing how well those things are glued in there...Anyway, NEVER had one problem. Picture was rock solid and looked good. Since then, I've switched my bars to Renthal Ultra Lows in black aluminum. Best change yet. These bars are actually 1" wider total than stock. So I mounted both grips and controls on both sides inward 1/2". The grips and controls are at roughly the same spacing as stock, plus I now use the 1/2" of solid bar on both sides to mount 2 CRG's to. Or, if you now you're going to be switching bars in the future, you could just trim a 1/2" off your left grip and clamp it to your bar for now. .02, TK | ||

Here's a couple pics of the Ultra Lows on there. FC, the streetfighters are wider, taller, and straighter than the ultra-lows.   excuse the tape...I'm ordering a set of Rizoma grips that are screwed on, and didn't want to have the glue mess on the bars...   The Black bars with black control levers looks way better IMO. That plus the fact I've painted everything that was siler or gold, frame gray to match. The bars compare as follows in inches Width Height Pullback Buell 28 4 6.5 Ultralow 29 3 3.7 srtftr 29.7 4 3.1 Love em. I got mine from a streetfighter site which I'll pass to you if you pm me. EZ, How do you mount them to the bars? Cut the grips back? Different bars? The grips come all the way to the end of the handlebars,it doesn't seem to me there would be room to clamp the mirror there. | ||

Just cut the grips back and bring the controls in a 1/3rd of an inch, and your done! Add BarEnd weights if you don't want to put in those old bar end caps. GT - JBOTDS! EZ | ||

How do you get the pins that hold the controls in place,thru the hole in the bar after you move the controls in? Drill a new hole? I think I'd just get the adapters | ||

lol - I lost those pins the first swap out on both bikes - a lot of folks just wrap some duc tape twice around the bars so the controls snug on to the duc tape when tightening down the controls - works - old trick. GT - JBOTDS! EZ | ||

I wouldnt recommend placing the CRG mirrors on the plastic end piece as i have lost one of my mirrors this way. The little plastic knob came out more than once until finally one day i came home and realized that the mirror had fallen off during my ride. I was completely pissed. My fault for doing something so stupid, however, i did just follow the instructions. Please dont make the same mistake. | ||

Daves, The Renthals don't come with any pin holes...I don't know if any aftermarket bars do? Different bikes have factory pin holes in different locations anyway. All you do it wrap the bar in the approx. location with a couple strips of masking tape. Then, you position the controls so they're most comfortable....rotationally that is...they will be placed laterally based upon where you want your grips to be, stock or inboard like mine. Once you have them where you want them, you squeeze em gently. The control pins make a really nice dent(bullseye) for you to drill a nice hole. The Renthals are double wall aluminum, so I didn't even have to go all the way through...just enough to where the controls clamp flush. Presto! Boise, I agree. TK | ||

ummmm if you wrap the tape around the bar doesn't that insulate the control electrically? I have to check the wiring diagram for the xb, but every other bike I've owned required the controls to be grounded to work. Admittedly those were japanese and british bikes. | ||

I have been thinking about bar end mirrors, but I'd like to give them a try before spending the cash on a pair crg mirrors. Anyone have the inside info on what are the "best" of the cheaper round bicycle bar end mirrors? A link would be helpful as well as a brand name. We have a lot of bicycle shops locally, but what is best for them won't always be what works best for us. I don't want to spend big bucks to find out I hate the position of the mirrors. I have the 3rd eye mirrors and while I enjoy their price I cannot stand the rubber expansion washers. Maybe I'm an idiot but I've spent too much time wrangling those suckers in and out. I just bought a set of aluminum taper lock inserts. I'll be using them on my new set of napoleons as they will not accept the third eyes without some major re-thinking. They are available should you search the web for handguards. I've had extremely good fortune with the sponsors on this site and will not advertise for non sponsors. I also found another set of bar end mirrors from overseas that have been discussed here that include these aluminum expansion fittings. You can search the KV or sponsors section. NUTS | ||

Check here: http://www.rei.com search for mirror and you'll find em. The cateye 300 and 3rd eye seem to be the most popular, just don't judge the crg's by these mirrors' image and stability. No comparison. TK | ||

I bought the CRG mirrors and adapters and after three tanks of gas I can say they are works of art and well made and engineered. Don't skimp. These are the right thing. Rock solid steady, adjustable, you don't look at your elbows. A huge improvement over the stock Mouse ears. Try them you will not be disappointed. |
