My wife rides an S but I have sold many Rs to other women. As long as she is tall enough to reach the ground she will be fine. Could I interest you in a trip to Wisconsin for it?  | ||

My wife rides my 9R on occasion, but her regular bike is an SV1000S, so it's not that big a deal. She also has quite a bit of experience and respect for motorcycles. She is 5'5" and has to tip toe when she stops. | ||

I got myself the XB9R to add to my collection when my 23 year old daughter who is 5"10" wanted to learn how to ride. Bike looks so tiny. And I have always lusted for one, so when I found a good deal on a slightly used one I had all the rationalization I needed. Plus the guy I bought it from was interested in my XR650L... so; my XR and some cash and the XB9R was mine Thought she could try learning on that with my 21 year old son on his 97 CBR600 and me on my R1 as her riding partners. In her case, as a beginner, she was more comfortable with the CBR. Seat was lower and she could get flat footed and not as much torque, which helped her feel more comfortable. So she learned on the CBR.... I love the XB9R, and I am sure others learned on it, but that was my experience.... | ||

She is 5'9" long legs, and lots of red hair! And yes Dave, I would for sure rather get one from you, if ya wernt on the other side of the country from here. On a MC that would be a long drive. She is signed up for the safety class soon, and has rode my Duke II which is a tall bike. (but scared the heck outa me) | ||

At 5'9" she should be fine on a R bike. Are you thinking a 9 or a 12 for her? | ||

Well then, I have a black 2004 with a bunch of carbon fiber on it. I also have a red 2005 Both are low miles. I have them listed in the classified section under bikes for sale. Heck your only 1000 miles or so away. Make an adventure out of it. | ||

If she is a really new rider, I think a Blast is a MUCH better choice than an XB. An XB would be great for her 2nd season. | ||

I learned on an 9R and had no problem at 5'3" tippy toe-ing it. I switched to 9S low last year because of seat height. Don't waste your money on a Blast if you expect her to be able keep up with you. You can't get rid of them and as tall as she is the Blast will not make her happy. |
