Well I braved the cold today ( about 45) and took the new bike out. Couldnt really say too much casue i am folling break in so i cant go over 2500 rpms. But I do like it. feels a little weird comming off of Jap 4s my whole life, and I did have a RC51 also. But i did have a smile on my face the whole time ridding it, Hope to get to take it out more tomarrow!!! Go Buell!! | ||

Congrats on the bike. I rode Jap (which is slang for japanese)bikes for years but the Buell is my baby. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I am mine. | ||

it's cold and you need to deal with the break in period, torture! hey, Sportriderwv: what are your thoughts on the RC51? i'm looking at other bikes with torque and that one keeps coming up. i've read it is not for the street and very uncomfortable. your humble opinion? thanks rubdizzle | ||

Well to be honest,, I loved it. A little on the heavy side but i thought it was a great streetbike, actually my favorite bike I have ever owned ( and I have owned about everything made) but might change my mind after i get the firebolt broke in. It just really felt good on the street. I didnt think it was uncomfatable at all, I mean i wouldnt take any sportbike touring but for the purpose of the twistys it was great, any more ? just ask | ||

thanks, maybe i'll wait until you get to know your XB before asking anymore questions. the only reason i ask is the fact there is nowhere close to service my 9R. i was considering moving to a 12R though, i really love the ride of these bikes and worry about missing the feel too much. it will take a lot of research and if i'm lucky some test rides!  | ||

You're only getting a taste of the acceleration. Wait till you ping it out to 6800, then you'll know the 12 is no slouch. It's just not a Japanese Superbike. Buells are easy to lay rubber down with because the long stroke motor won't run away on you and cause a highside either. | ||

Sportriderwv - you'll be surprised how capable the Firebolt will be for sport-touring. I've done 700 miles weeknds on it, and the only thing that I'd consider changing is the stock seat. It may have been designed by a sadist, or a masochist, I'm not quite sure. Check out the pic in my profile. That was a memorial day run this year up into VT for a weekend of twistes. | ||

I have the Buell Touring seat, Heli-Bars and the lower "XB-S" model foot pegs. Very comfy, just about like riding a bike. Johnnylunchbox - What brand saddle bags are those in your picture? How did they fair? Would you do the same or different type of bags Sportriderwv - Congratulations on the Buell. I have an R1 and XB9R. Big grin factor when I am on the Buell. It is just such a different experience and so enjoyable. When I get back from riding my R1, usually can't wait to jump on the XB | ||

Truk - those are Nelson-Rigg: http://www.newenough.com/nelson_rigg_standard_saddle_bag_page.htm They are really well made, and you can also get a tail bag that integrates with the saddlebags. They also come with raincovers. I think they are perfect and fit the Firebolt really well. For 50 odd bucks you can't go wrong with these. I highly recommend them.
