I have a stock ECM. I am adding muffler, filter, right side vent eventually and maybe a couple of other things over time. I also want to do my own TPS resets. I am a bit confused about what software I need. VDSTS or DirectLink? Thanks. |

Both VDSTS and DirectLink will reset your TPS (and AFV). VDSTS will reset the TPS of any Buell connected to it. DL will only reset the TPS of the ECM that it's USB key is married to. VDSTS has a bunch of other diagnostic functions. DL can monitor some real time parameters, but doesn't include other active test functions (i.e., injector test, fuel pump tests, etc) DL will let you remap your ECM. However, doing so without a dyno and/or wideband O2 sensor is folly, and dyno tuning like this can take several hours and cost several hundred dollars. So many folks will be buying a canned map for their bike configuration and have it uploaded into their ECM. This requires the purchase of a DL key that gets married to your ECM. Once the key is paid for anyway, spending only $99 for the DL SW that lets you zero the TPS instead of $195 for VDSTS makes sense for some folks. I want to get my ECM remapped (was planning on getting a race ECM, but why bother now?), problem is, I don't have everything yet. I think I am leaning towards a D&D muffler, I'm pretty sure you can't run the stock ECM with that. So would I have to pay 95 bucks everytime I add something, or could you upload the map to the key? Sorry, I am just not really sure how this works. |
