Just posted a Buell for Sale. 95 RED S-2. White frame, with Pm wheels. $5200 obo. Great shape. Just had a new front rotor installed, along with a carb jetting from Modesto. Great looking bike. Need to sell. REX buellv@aol.com, or 925-899-2057. A great bike for someone wanting to pick up a good S-2 for a collectors item or to have a Buell classic to ride. Runs good, smooth. With Six bikes, I need to sell some. The 97 M-2 will stay with me forever though. It is the best bike I have owned, and I have owned over 32 different bikes...REX buellv@aol.com. I can email photos. |

My contention would be that there is something else causing Dyna's motor to fail that the dealer never fixed the first time around. Given this, in my opinion, the original failure is the one that governs whether or not the bike is in warranty. That is to say that Dyna's original problem occurred with the bike in warranty and was never truly fixed. In the end it would come out like someone trying to get their car fixed under warranty and the dealer telling them that can't get in until next week during which time they turn 36,001 mi on the odo and then being denied because it's now out of warranty. As for the race ecm, if the dealer is wanting to deny coverage because of it, they have the burden of proving that the failure was caused by it. |

Concerning the FZ1...You might ask Ferris for his opinion...he's ridden mine. sweet machine, smooth, fast, composed, quick, killer brakes, comfortable, all the great things the mags are saying about it. Dino? HE'S the turnip twaddler! I'd put a smiley face here...but they've disappeared. Do you suppose Blake took away my smiley faces?...or did Ferris just use them all up? hey, what can i say, i'm a happy guy! why? 'cause i got to flog your FZ, and you DIDN'T bin my VFR -- right in front of my eyes -- in that corner with all the sand in it! nice save, Ronco-Boy! FB |

Would the party that stole my M2 like the extended warranty card also? I can't use it, heck I can't even cancel it. On top of that, I can't even get it refunded......Never again |

American Sport Bike is proud to announce the addition of a shiny new black XB9S Lighting to the family (with a coincidental serial # of 0009). Wow!! I have to say that this bike is truly one of the best (if not the best) handling bikes that I've ever ridden on. I'm sure that if you haven't had the opportunity to ride one, you will find it every bit just as entertaining once you do get the chance. It combines the minimalist street-fighter look of the old S-1 but has a build and ride quality that surpasses many of today's modern day machines. There's a great article called "The Perfect Partner" in the November, 2002 Roadracing World magazine in which Michael Hannas so eloquently describes the new Lightning. If the thought of purchasing one has ever crossed your mind, I highly recommend you follow your instincts (especially since that's how you'll be the bike). Update on Frame Sliders & Handle Bar Risers: Frame sliders are coming along nicely, the frame is currently being digitized and we will proceed with tooling early next week. As for the handle bar risers, at this point in time, there seems to be too many costly challenges to overcome. We have, however, found one way-and that would be to complete an entire top triple tree. If you own a Firebolt and need handle bar risers and would be interested in a new triple tree set up, please contact us. For those of you that own tube frame models and are looking for frame sliders, we are currently working on them and will have something within the next few weeks. There isn't a definite price yet, but they will be under $200. Order yours in advance. Blow out on a Six-Speed Transmission (Part # 6036) Retails for $2350, blow out price, $1895. Also Part # 5684, Perimeter Brake System, normally $2179, blowing out for $1595. There's only one left of each. These are incredible deals!!!!Get 'em while you can. |

" ================================================== Thats it exactly, you hit the nail square on the head. Im not going into any details, everyone here knows the saga, old news , blah, blah, etc. Now that whole race ecm voiding your warranty deal is another story.Depending on whom you speak with at Buell CS, one will tell you "its no problem" while another will tell you "race parts void your warranty". However if you call the big brother in all of this...Harley CS they say that so long as it as Buell supplied part..the race ecm is, the warranty cannot be voided. But tell this to Buell & they will argue. Its almost as if it all depends on the flip of a coin. I had a 3rd party who intervened on my behalf & acted as a negotiator with Buell. A lot of their attitude comes from whats posted on the web. I was basically told, stop posting negative Buell posts or we wont even talk to you. Doesnt that kinda sound like extortion to you??? I mean, you make a product, I buy it, it breaks several times & when I attempt to get it fixed again, you tell me tuff $@#!. So then I post exactly what kinda crap is going on & you guys cop a major attitude because of what I post????? Thats just plain wrong & no way to treat customers. I was seriously considering the purchase of a new lightning, I like the bike a lot. But after the treatment I received from Buell CS it will be a cold day in hell before I ever purchase a bike from them. People here may say,"well you deserve it for spouting off at Buell". You ever consider the fact that if I had received the proper treatment during the 1st 2 fiascos that I never would have resorted to being a major prick? For those who love their bikes...fantastic. I wish I coulda had the same kind of relationship. |

I just got done putting the kids to bed, so let me tell a little fairy tale. There was a man riding a motorcycle through a small town. A policeman thought he clocked him speeding. The man said the policeman actually clocked a truck way behind him that was speeding instead. The man on the motorcycle got the ticket anyway. The man then goes and pees in the towns only well every day at noon, and says he will continue doing it until the mayor cancels the ticket. The towns people feel a little bad for the guy at first, they don't know if he was speeding or not. But after about the third day of the man peeing in their well, they cease to care if the man was guilty or innocent. They did not give the ticket, yet this man keeps peeing in their well. All they do is grow to hate and disrespect the man. The mayor knows that the people all have grown to hate and pity the man, and he has no reason to cancel the ticket, regardless if the man was innocent or guilty. I don't understand the types of people that feel it necessary to make sure that if they are not happy, that nobody can be happy. Or the person that believes that it is OK to make as many people as necessary to suffer, so long as they get what they want. Blackmail? Sounds to me like the guy peeing in the well is the one doing the blackmailing. If I owned a big business, I would not trust them to enter into a good faith agreement either. If thats the way they want to play it, then they can take it to court where I would drag it out and make it as long and as uncomfortable as I possibly could. All this is of course in my humble opinion |

Once upon a time I *almost* purchased a new S1....that dealer told me that the bike would still be under warranty *if* the parts came from Buell, and *if* said mods were done by them. Seems, as with most issues, there's big discrepancies between dealers on service issues. That's something that should absolutely be dealt with...and should've been long ago. Are warranties transferable between dealers? |

Court, I don't want to pee in the well (I like that!) over the smoke and mirrors thing, but I can relate my actual experience, and you can decide. So I buy a '99 S-3, new, and I like it but it runs funny, sort of lean and stumbly, and it's not nearly loud enough. I'm advised that the addition of the Buell race package will fix this, but, the addition of the race package will void my warranty. So I waited a year, stumbling along quietly on my S-3, until just before the warranty expired and brought this subject up as a thread topic on BADWEB. Yes, was the concensus, you can buy an extended warranty, but if you add the race package you will void your extended warranty. This advise was verified by Buell. So I bought the race package instead of the extended warranty. 'Nother owner, who is almost as good rider as me, and nearly as good looking, but younger, bought both (an extended warranty, and a race kit) and gernaded his engine. And the engine was repaired under the extended warranty. Hmmm...now I call that smoke and mirrors. I'm glad the 'nother rider got his work done under warranty, damn glad, because he's a friend, but I would have bought the extended warranty for myself if I had known it would cover engine repairs after adding the race kit. My out of pocket expense keeping the S-3 running has exceeded the cost of the extended warranty. I'm tired of peeing in the well. Paul |

Are warranties transferable between dealers? The standard warranty is independent of the dealer. Not sure about extended warranties, but would think the same true for them. Loki, I'd have thought that you should be refunded the prorated portion of your unused extended warranty or at least a major portion of it. Seems I recall someone in a similar situation who received such a refund. Reep/Bill, That was a great analogy. All, If you have not yet voted on the Buell satisfaction poll on the quick board. Please take a second to do so. Simply post bike model/year, whether purchased new or used, and whether you are satisfied or unsatisfied with the bike. Save any other words for another topic. Thanks, Blake |

Just came across a limerick that tickled me no end. Hope this offends no one and brings a chuckle to some: There once was a woman from Nizes, Whose breasts were two different sizes. One was small, really nothing at all, The other was large, and won prizes. Capt. Pete Please don’t ask me where Nizes is. Godspeed and Good Fortune on the Salt, guys! |

Court, A diversion from your question on quality vs warrenty. I think the problem with the tube Buells is the price point. To make the 100 hp sportster engine everyone wants reliable, I think it needs to be blueprinted. it needs to be carefully assembled and balanced. Each engine needs to run in and tested. The whole bike need careful hand assembly and that can't happen profitably at the price the bike sold for. Buell should have upped the fit and finish a little, added more carbon fiber and charged 15-18K. Gone after the Ducati 748s and 996s instead of the mass produced jap bike price points. They got stuck in no mans land, not quite cheap enough to sell a bunch and not enough hp, reliability and fit and finish to be exclusive. enough to command big bucks. The new buells seem like they may be priced appropriatly. |

Paul, I think you and Court are talking about two different entities. Court refers to the official policy, probably in writing, provided by BMC. I take it that your experience was governed by the actions of misinformed dealers? |

Blake, I thought so, I was told so. Then the fine print was pointed out to me when I requested it. The extended service(warranty) plan I states no cancellations. The plan is not transferrable between dealerships either. Take it to any dealer other than the preferred(purchased through) and.... They have to call the originator and see if they are going to honor the claim. I am not done yet as far as getting a refund though. I am making a call or to and writing a letter to the mother company. |

I don't know about Buell, but HD's extended warranty does NOT come from Harley Davidson and only require a certified mechanic be present on repair. I would think that both entities being the same(HD/BMC), the EW's would work similarly. |

First off i dont think this is moaning, just an honest question concerning fact and a situation, and i think there have been some interesting points made, i also like the Well story, makes some interesting points, the shame of it is, that so far the only solution has been to get a lawyer involved, that seems wrong, and as far as making the case last a long time, yes that would make it tuff, but if the lawyer is making his money from the case, it wouldnt really mater and in some cases the judge may award more cash because of this, i guess i just wish there could be a better solution, one that improves Buells credabilty, and helps Dyna out, maybe i live in a dream world, but could you imagine if Dyna wins a suit, look out banned for sure, and i know if he wins anyone coming to these boards for advice, will get the same thing, "i had to sue them to get my money back the bike was so bad" just hoping it wouldnt come to that, and also hoping everyone would understand better dynas situation oh well i tried Roger |

Loki, Another angle to consider, can you make an additional claim to the insurance company about this additional financial loss? An extended warranty is similar to an accessory added to the bike, it adds value to the owner and if transferrable to future owners. If there is value added, then that added value should at least partially be recoverable under a total-loss insurance claim. I know when my bike was down I included the warranty as part of the loss, but my warranty was both transferrable and refundable, and if not used at all is refunded in full at the end of the term. If my bike had been totalled, according to the dealer and the warranty provider, I could either have received a pro-rated refund or could have waited until the normal expiration and received the full amount. I mentioned this to the insurance company, but my insurance company fixed the bike, and the other insurance company is still being dealt with. Just another angle to consider. By the way, my warranty package was a one-year-offered deal, and they don't think they'll offer it again. Too bad, they'd probably sell more extended warrantys if they did. The transferrable/refundable part is the only reason I bought it. Only 3.7 years to go for the refund. |

TWO magazine out of England has an excellant write up about the Firebolt. They take Erik at his word adn do a camparo test with an Aprilla RS250 road bike. The Aprilla handles better but just. They love the thing except for the tranny. The also have an owners bike kinda feature and that fellow loves it also. The mag was 8-10 buck on the newsstand so I didn't buy it but it was a Barnes and Nobel so you might fine one to read. Dave |

I have never ridden a race bike but I have to say that the Firebolt is quite amazing. It makes my old M2 feel like a pig. If actually feels smaller than my 500 single, it's shorter but taller and heavier, and is as agile at low speeds while way, way better at fast speeds. My only complaint... it's gonna get me a big ticket one of these days as I carry so much speed through the turns that when I whack the throttle open (way, way earlier than I would ever dare on any other bike I have ridden) I end up going very fast. Cops won't like that. The quality sure seems to be there also. Dave |
