Bud, yes I had a look at the Technoresearch, the way I read it is they want $99 for the software, and $249 for the hardware key that allows a one-off reflashing of the ecm, is that how you see it? I wonder if for $99 for the software you can connect to the ecm and just have a look at what's going on in there, or if you need the hardware key for that too? I guess someone will buy one soon and spill the beans. The documentation on their website is a bit vague.

Bud, I guess that upping the fuel pressure is the same as fitting bigger injectors so its richer all through the range (same as fitting a race ecu?) Did you fit a fixed or variable regulator?

Slaughter,
Is there an "off the shelf" lightened flywheel available from anyone?
What about dumping the alternator and running constant loss?

I think Hoban's does a lot of flywheel stuff, maybe they have an "off the shelf lightened flywheel"?????

thing is,
the Fi as is don't have a return fuell line ( closed system), the pres. regulator is on the pump in the frame, you could make a adjusteble one but you need a way to return the fuell in the tank,
other wise you need to remove the fuell pomp every time you want to adjust it.

some have very good results with the race injector's, but i'm fine just with the pc3
perhaps after the trottle bore ( think big )

Surveyor - I'm not aware of a lightened flywheel that works in the Buell. All the aftermarket stuff I've seen has been for the Harley motors.

I've got a sorta-kinda-support deal through Bartels and sorta-kinda get some work done there so that's where I went to get the thing lightened and balanced.

You can certainly dump the alternator and run constant loss. I'm lazy and keep the charging/starting system but you could cut a good 3 pounds weight and maybe a half HP loss (guessing) - by yanking out the alternator and just going to total loss electrical.

If you guys are talking about lightened crankshaft, Rich Cronrath (racingmotorcycles.com) sells one.

Xbolt12 - thanks! Rich Conrath does offer most little bits and big things for the Buell racebikes.

I have tended to steer clear of Innovation because I just don't like the guy compared to the guys at HAL's. Rich is a pretty hard-core sales guy and everytime I've talked to him, I feel that he has no time for me unless I have cash in hand. Hals can get you anything. None of it is cheap from Conrath/Innovation or Hals. They're really easy to talk to. Call and ask for the race shop.

You really ought to get the whole system (pistons and c-rods too) all together if you're already talking about a new crank/flywheel - and get it all lightened AND balanced, the lighter stuff is going to be harder on the bottom end.

These engines tend to break the bottom end when pounded hard and spun fast.

I've heard they need to be machined for a timkin bearing on the output side... Do you have any exp. with that setup? I hear it's more survivable.

/EDIT

And necessary after 120# of torque,
