I was screwing around earlier and decided to take off the passenger footpegs. I like the look and my wife hates cold weather. Now I'm trying to figure out how to take the red reflectors that are part of the license plate/turn signal mess off. By the way I am very dumb so you'll need to explain in great detail. I tried to take them off but I was afraid I was going to break something. |

they should just come right off. unbolt, remove reflector, bolt it back up. thats what i did. think i may have removed a little nub that aligns them, can't remember, it was too long ago. once bolted tight they've never moved... on two different tails. |

I unscrewed the screws that are on the underside of the passenger seat. These are the only screws that appear to hold the license plate frame and everything else on. The red side reflector bracket is placed with the rear turn signals going thru them. That is where I have the problem. I can't figure out how to get the turn signals off...help please! |

The turn signals are threaded. they might be so tight that you have to unscrew the turn signals themselves. make sure you hold the nut on the inside of the turn signal or you will just tighten it down. |

Easy job, but ya gotta take off the lights. 1. Take off seat (two torx bits). 2. Take off rear plastic (five torx bits IIRC). Gently spread the plastic outward to get it over the undertail plastic. No need to disconnect the pillion release cable. 3. The key: remove the signal lights- they're the only thing holding the reflector brackets on. Use an open-end wrench to loosen the nuts and spin 'em by finger. Then you'll need to unplug the wires and pull them thru. At this point the brackets should just fall off, but maybe not because they have a little alignment tab (or hole or something), but no more screws. 4. Put it all back the way you found it! -OR- go allll the way... Here's my tail, gutted of metal bracketry, plus a homemade undertail plateholder... PS the little red wingie things are saddlebag brackets, I put reflective tape on them to keep some visibility. |

No problem Typeone, thanks for at least trying. Nadz, thanks also. I think I might have a go at it tomorrow afternoon. I'll let you know if I screw it up. |
