Got my new Fuell yesterday. In a piece about the Lightening Long Eric says it has similar ergo's to an M2 or tube Lightening. But with better handling. For those of you who have ridden, or own, a new Long, what are the differences between it and your tuber? M |

I own a X1 and have demo'd a SS. They are very similar ergo wise but the SS definitely handled better. I'd say that the stock SS had the same power as my X1 with a pipe, forcewinder and race ECM. I liked the SS a lot and considered it as a replacement for my X1 but I am getting a Ulysses instead through Daves's Fly-n-Buy deal (and keeping the x1). Frank |

Funny this is posted...my wife was talking about getting me a new bike. The only one I was halfway considering was the long. Only problem is I love the bags on my S3T as well as the look...besides I would HATE to get rid of her (the S3 not the wife). |

XB12Ss is the "long" version of the XB12S... It has a longer frame/swingarm/ etc... for taller riders.. LIKE ME!! this is the XB12Ss |

i shall ask him... danka shein Dana, cause i am just friggin torn here.. of course i have to get rid of my X1, but then it is free game pal.. I have ridden a XB9s, and i felt like a monkey boinking a football, then i rode the 12R and i liked.... so i will have to try the Ss just to see, cause 4 years of riding a very similar riding style would be grand. What do you think color wise... NOT RED THOUGH! i have a white one now so black would be the other spectrum, although the Blue would be good to use as a Michigan Bike.. MAZE AND BLUE BABY! ok that sounded like my father.. watch all this and i find i hate this one too and i end up getting the R.. lol |

I pulled out some old literature and compared specs for a 2001 Lightening vs an XB12Ss. Wheel Base: X1 55" 12Ss 54" Dry Weight: X1 440 12Ss 400 HP: X1 101 12Ss 103 Fuel tank: X1 4.2 12Ss 4.4 Pretty close, M |

Oh and the steering angle specs: M2 24.5 degrees X1 23 degrees XB12s 21 degrees XB12Ss 23.5/22 degrees I have no idea why there are two angles listed there. |

Those are front end rake angles. The two numbers for the XB12Ss are angles for steering head axis and fork angles. They are offset/different. Wierd huh. |

Xb12Ss --- none on the used market so 10,000 X1 low miles with pipes and other goodies 5-6,000 I'll keep the 5g's and not worry about handling! But once Buell gets smarts and makes an XB/S3 version--- that might tempt me into getting a new XB. |

well I took one out for a ride this weekend... a XB12Ss that is.. and WOW what a nice bike... It is true, it is the same feel of my X1, but handling is much more precises, and the seat is TONS!!! more comfy. DAVE this is what i will get when i sell the X1... Just FYI, cause i took a 12R out and it wasn't as comfy. So blue or Black XB12Ss please.. danka shein |
