It's time to start thinking about putting the XB12Scg away for the winter. I might have a few more weeks left of riding, but probably not many, it's starting to get cold!

I've never winterized a bike before, because I used to make sure I could ride it once or twice a month, but I doubt that'll be the case this year. I don't like the idea of parking it outside, covered or not, so I'll probably see if I can store it at my parents house.

I was just wondering what other people do for winter storage?

STA-BIL

get some and put it in your gas tank.....ride it around for about 5 minutes after putting it in the tank and sloshing it around. If you can, get the tires off the hard ground to avoid flat spots. Cover it with something even if it is in the garage.

What is this "Winter" of which you speak?

Sta-Bil??? I've seen more crap happen with that crap then without. I fill the tank up,check the tire pressure, put the Battery Tender on it,cover on and see ya come Spring. If you are worried about flat spots then put it on stands but you won't in just a couple months of sitting.

Ya Blake, winter? Geez Dana ya know Daytona ain't that far off.......plus you have that Buell snowblower still don't ya?
Just keep ridin like Steve Mc!
Seriously didn't this discussion get covered about StaBil last year? The tire part-what about rolling the bike on some plywood to get the tires off the concrete if you don't have stands?

Fuel stabilizer...fill the tank...run the bike for at least 3 minutes...after cool-down, remove the spark plugs and spray some fogging oil down the holes, turn the rear wheel one revolution, replace the plugs...change the engine/transmission oil...inflate tires to proper pressure...put a "breathable" tarp over the bike...you're done.

The only sure way to safely "store" your Buell is to ship it south for the "Winter" to one of your southern Buell brethren who can ride it regularly and keep it fresh until the spring when it can be shipped back....

Winter as defined by Merriam-Webster: the season between autumn and spring comprising in the northern hemisphere usually the months of December, January, and February or as reckoned astronomically extending from the December solstice to the March equinox

I'm not a big fan of riding in the snow, and the chances to ride this winter will be pretty small so I guess I'll put her away. Now when I had the dirt bike or even the DR650SE the winter was a great time to ride, but I wouldn't do it on street tires.

Roads end up looking something like this:
Winter
