As part of a extended PM I had the back end of my X1 apart. While re hanging the rear caliper I came across this problem, when you change pads or fluid check the condition of the pin and bushing that the caliper floats on.
the bushing is badly coroded I removed the gross corosion and greased the boot [inside], I also put anti seize on the peg of the front bolt checking for free movment of the caliper over the disk. then I moved the pistons out to the pads
