since the local dealership reset my ecm, well the day after, my bike has great difficulty starting & needs to be revved like a racer to keep it alive until it is hot enough to idle at 1000rpm by its self (usually a few minutes). i am experiencing loud & multiple pops on closing throttle after hard acceleration - which is abt right w/ full factory racekit installed??!! i use 92 or 94 octane *gasohol* (its canada, most gas is blended w/ alcohol & detergents) .. its getting to -2 centigrade at nights (fall) & elevation is near rockies. is their anything i shd know (i am awaiting the buell *journeyman* to return from holidays)?? |

For your first issue, have your local dealer reset the TPS. They must have done it once already when the installed your race ECM, but it clearly is not correct yet. This is a fairly common and can be easily fixed. Popping on deceleration in fuel injected bikes is also very common. It is not in any way detrimental to the machine, but is sometimes annoying. It is usually the result of raw fuel escaping the combustion chamber and ignighting when it reaches the hot header pipe. Unfortunately, until a fully tunable EFI module is produced for the bike i.e. Powercommander IIIUSB, it will be nearly impossible to tune that pop out. |

The popping is usually a lean condition.As far as it nearly impossible to tune the pop out???My 12 has ran the Drummer and now the D&D and no popping what so ever.Now I know not everyones is like this but mine doesn't pop at all. |

My D&D pops so bad it does it shifting from first to second once it's nice n warmed up,n on decal OMFG its annoying as all hell. (Message edited by buelltroll on October 08, 2005) |

When I had my race kit installed, I thought the dealer had screwed something up because of the popping on deceleration. From what i'm told it's normal & I now quite like the sound. If you watch Moto GP, you'll notice those bikes do it too. Makes me feel like Valintino Rossi. |

Vons: your idle is TOO LOW. set hot idle to 1100. it make s a difference, they may or may not have properly set your tps, but you MUST set your idle correctly for the bike to start and run smoothly. |

fanx fullpower .. i tightened the throttle cable a bit today & it idles a bit higher & didn't fail to stay *lit*, as it were. i will still get hd dealership to look at it tho! |

there is a dedicated idle speed adjuster, left side of steering head, accesible just inboard of air scoop, can turn it manually or with a 3/16 allen wrench. |

Full power is right but be sure that when you adjust the idle the motor is really good and hot so when you set the idle it will be accurate.I did mine when I thought is warmed up and evidently it wasn't enough.The next time I rode I was on the interstate for 30 min. or so and when I got off,at the first stop sign it was idling at 2300 rpm's.So go for a 20 minute ride or so first then set it. |

I ran my new Ss with the K&N and Drummer SS for a couple of days when I was waiting for my race ECM to come in. It popped a bit on decel. Kevin warned me it might run a bit lean. After I installed the race ECM it cleared right up. |
