It was a great day. The weather was beautiful and the company was great. The only down part was that they were racing the cars yesterday, too, and that took quite a bit of time--especially since half of the time they were spewing oil all over the place. Other than that, everybody got about 5-6 practice rounds before they ran. Jason went out in the first round since his transmission basically gave up (it spit 4th gear out on him twice). Rocco, Anne, Leah, and Wes all advanced. Shortly thereafter our group was narrowed down to only Leah -- who advanced to the very final round and ended taking Second place--to a full out drag-prepped bike; air-shifter and all. Not too shabby for a chick on a stock bike All in all, a great day. And afterwords, a couple frosted beverages with some children entertaining us with their limited knowledge of dirty dancing. It was quite funny! Here are the promised pics. And yes, Mike, we took good care of Nancy, even desnorkled her bike in the staging lanes. Everybody looking at Leah's tiny feet. "So that's why I can't reach the shifter!" Nancy saying "Bring on that pansy Busa!!!" Rocco being shy. See, Tom knows how this works. Wes and Jason preparing to duel. Now for the action shots... Jason about to be smoked by Wes. Nancy running against a half evil Firebolt. Jason about to be smoked by Leah. Nancy preparing to take out that pansy Busa.

Hey coolice I heard that you might be selling the road glide and had some extras. If you could give me a call and let me know what you have and how much you might want for it that would be cool. My phone number is (262)705-4401, and I will be checking the web. Thanks Kelly |

"pansy" Busa? More like a "pansy" rider For some odd reason, Jason didn't wanna drag race me for pink slips when I rode up to meet him as he was unloading his bikes Maybe it had to do with the fact I was on a brand new 'busa |

"More like a "pansy" rider" Perhaps, but she did anyway with it nonetheless. "Maybe it had to do with the fact I was on a brand new 'busa " Nah, I just wasn't unloaded yet. |

Well, if'n ya need any help with it Jason, I've got recent experience I also have all the large sockets ya need. Make sure ya find yourself a nice big 200 FT/LB torque wrench. I only had a 150 when I did mine. I also have some brass cut up to wedge the primary sprockets when re-assembling things. |

Steve, I won't say the tranny has completely given up the ghost, but it spit me out of fourth on multiple occasions (once just in time to cost me a win). Sometimes it works, sometimes not so it's not dead yet. I'm thinking it's definitely time to pull it and take a look around though. As for the battery, I don't know. I charged it up, tested the voltage regulator, the stator and did the current draw tests and everything was okay. Had the battery tested and that's good as well so I stuffed it back in there and plugged in the tender. I guess just not riding it enough drained the battery a bit and running only a mile at a time wasn't enough for it to build a charge. |

long version....prepare yourself! First of all, I want to send out a HUGE thank you to Hellion (Ms Heather) for loaning me her shiny M2 to run on the drag strip for her, and another big thank you to Jason for bringing it out and making it all happen. With nice brakes and all! Best as I could remember, the only thing she told me was to make the bike look good for her… and I did the best that I could (although, I wish I didn’t wheelie that final run so that she could have had her bike win a title on its debut run out!) At least I did get a chance to catch glimpse of a little smile of satisfaction when her bike beat out Jason’s head up on the two runs that they ran together. Sorry Jason, I swear I didn’t know it was you! That was fun afterwards too hanging out at Esposito’s, watching William and his antics… I swear I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard with Heather and Fiery (Go Gingy!) Here’s the sales pitch on the bike though, that M2 was a fun bike to run on the strip, it was strong and had very predictable power through the rev range and it was easy to tell where the power started tapering off to know where to shift (good when bracket racing without a tach!) That was cool, Wish Fiery’s great idea of putting up a ‘For Sale’ sign at the start of the day would have dawned on all of us sooner! Oh well, give you more of an excuse to ride it now! Ah…advertising, that’s it… It was great seeing all of you again at the drag strip, although it sounds like more of us preferred the Thursday night program to the weekends intermixed with cars. Hope to see more of you out on the drag strip next year! And after checking out some of Fiery’s time slips, I definitely think that she will be out in the $$$ class next year. Watch out boys! Oh yeah, and in that picture… we were checking out if Fiery could fit into my boots in case she wants to try out Roadracing next! Speaking of next year, after Wes’s experiment coaching me to drag race this year was promising; I believe that he was thinking that he may consider teaching some drag racing essentials next year. Maybe a class or even one-on-one… Which I personally think is a great idea, he actually is really good at instruction especially since he is patient and very observant of rider/bike relationships. (Plus with over 500+ runs, I think he quit counting after that!) It’d be perfect if you want to make improvements to what you are already doing or just want to go out there for the first time. Bike prep, rider prep…just encourage him if you are interested, he’d be awesome at it! Anyways, hope that all of you that I saw today made it home safely from the Slimy Crud run. Roads out that way are spectacular (just wish they were closer) We had a ‘spirited’ ride back home following a local guy on a 916 through the back roads and then ended up getting drenched the last 15 miles home. Hope that all of you missed the rain…for us the Slimy Crud lived up to its name! |

Leah, this fall Crud Run didn't live up to it's name at all. 10-15 minutes of rain is all we got also. Just outside of Sun Praire. The Spring Crud Run was indeed cruddy. We turned back 1/2 way up to Pine Bluff as it started to sleet. And last years fall Crud Run started out at 29 degrees in Waukesha when we left at 8:30AM. Congrats on the 2nd place. I wish I would have been able to stick around long enough to see all of it happen, but work called Did ya happen to see the times my wife's sister on the 333<aka 1/2 Evil> bike run? 12.69 on a fairly stock XB9R, and her 1st time at the drag strip, ain't too shabby whatsoever! |

First of all, I'm not so sure I buy the whole "I didn't know it was you" bit. And yes, Heather was quite amused. All I remember was winding out second, trying to chase you down and then "what the... come on... crap... what the hell is wrong with this thing... oh yeah, shift!" Oops. Not that I was going to catch you anyway, but that just put me further behind. The for sale sign probably would have been a good idea (hence I didn't have it). Thanks for the plug on the bike though! Other than that, Wes should absolutely teach drag racing! I know I for one could use the help. (I'll take any road racing tips as well.) For those of you that didn't make it out to the strip this year, I can't say enough how much fun it is and I hope to see more out there next year. Hope everyone had a good time at the crud run, wish we could have been there. |

What a great Weekend! Thanks Guys and Gals (my pit crew)for all your help on Sat. and good too see ya again on Sun. and all the others that joined in. Trying out that little experiment was fun. I'd be interested in some Drag Racing training, too. Let's see. . . I just have to get a race kit on my bike and by looking at those picts. . . . . about 50#s off me arse! I'd probably gain about 10 more mph. Congrats to Leah on a 2nd place WIN and that was too hilarious watchin' Will doin the Gingy dance. I have GOT to rent that movie again. Leah, I don't think it was my idea to put a For Sale sign on the bike. Someone else deserves that credit. I don't know about the road racing thing yet, I'll try out the Class school first. I was thinkin' about the boots for the drag strip! Sorry you were sick in bed all weekend Coolice. Missed ya. Toni, your Sister did some butt kickin' for her first time down the track. I think she's hooked. She was havin' so much fun, couldn't get her off the bike to even try it out. (Message edited by fiery_xb on October 04, 2005) |
