Asside from the frame pucs/sliders I don't think Buell offers any other protection in the event of the bike going down. Does anyone know if there are other sliders for the swingarm or forks that fit these Buells? Maybe some jap sliders can be modified or something? I've got the pucs, but would like more protection for the swingarm and forks. Thought I saw something about skateboard wheels being modified or something. |

skate wheels suck. they fade n probably wouldn't hold up good in a spill. one of the sponsors makes n sells some nice machined aluminum ones. dark horse moto or something like that. check the sponsor section. |

I have the Hal's chain conversion on my bike (see profile) As an added bonus with the swingarm conversion mounts for the swingarm spools are part of the package. Makes it really easy to put on nylon bobbin/sliders. This feature doesn't get much air play, but it is really nice when changing tires, or in the event of a crash (knock on wood). I just have to get around to making a spacer for the axle to lock it in place so removing it (the axle)is a one wrench job. |

Beachbuell, about skateboard wheels, quote: Trojan: Be very careful using skateboard wheels as sliders. A lot of the supermoto guys over here used them to start with, but found that instead of sliding they dig in and grip the road, which can lead to more damage being done by spinning the bike round or even flipping it. Better to use the alloy or hard plastic (Delrin?) type sliders in my opinion. Here's the thread link: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/148545.html?1127631743 As ya know, sliders for Buells are available from DarkHorseMoto, AmericanSportBike, LSL, Sato. People have fun rolling their own milling billet or rigging ss cabinet handles from home depot. I might make lighted transparent large mushroom shaped sliders for night visibility whatever. Have fun but be safe dude! (Message edited by johnb on October 01, 2005) |
