I want easy wheelies. Wheelies off the throttle. I bought my bike with the race kit already installed and even though the bike is still a blast to ride, it is nowhere near doing wheelies off the throttle with 215lbs of me on it's back! (disclaimer: I don't really want to ride around all day long on my rear wheel, but that's the kind of acceleration I bought this bike to experience!) Will the combo I listed in the subject line do the trick? I will add the TFI if I must, but I really don't want to (plus, my wife is preparing to murder me if I spent much more $$$). I know the difference is probably minute, but won't leaving my airbox stock (minus the snorkle) with the K&N help deliver more low-end torque, keep the bike from running lean and help alleviate the need for the TFI?
Thanks for looking,
WT

I've read here, that xb12'ers either use the Race Ecm or the tfi, but not both...
The Drummer gives a bit more Omphf ,on lower rpm's.

The race kit with the muffler actually takes away some of the very low end grunt that the 12 has and increases it everywhere else , you can find dyno charts here somewhere ..
I have the same bike in a Firebolt ,ECM,muffler, air cleaner "race kit" and I'm around 170 , it will only lift unprovoked in 1st gear , but on the other hand if I want to ,I can make it come up NO PROBLEM in 2nd and click 3rd just before putting the front wheel down .

Mine will come up in first and second with the Drummer and race ECM but only when fairly close to sea level. Up here where I live, at 5000', it'll only come up at 3000 in first.

That's with not using the clutch or loading the front springs.

With the clutch it'll come up in first or second whenever I want.

I try to keep both wheels on the ground though. It's pretty rare to see me wheelie.

I will be installing Loud DRUMMER, tfi and k/n filter next week hoping to find the same roll-on wheelie performance

My XB9S with race ECM, K&N & Drummer will wheelie from idle right on up in first. I weigh 185lbs.

Jerseyguy,
That's what I want to hear. The TFI seems like too much work for me and I already have the race ECM installed. I just want to get it how I want it and then ride it! Thanks to everyone for your comments,
WT

Race ECM, as Dave would say is plug and play. XB12Ss:Let my buddy take it for a spin (Race ECM, K&N, D&D) I heard that bike open and shut pretty quick, when he got back he was white as a sheet, he said he barely wristed it and the wheel came RIGHT up!!

I have a Drummer on my 12R and the front end and Kevin told me to get the most out of the Drummer on a 12. You will need to use the race ecm and the tfi unit. So the best person to ask is Kevin. I plan on adding the race ecm and the tfi this winter. Good luck Brupska

Cool. I can't wait to get my Drummer! On a side-note I just read about a piece of tuning software in another thread ("Coming soon tuning tool for Buell Motorbikes"; )that would make the TFI a lot easier to figure out if they are compatible. You could play around with different mods at home because it lets you do the TPS reset and clear error codes as well as many other cool tuning functions. I guess I don't have $285 for the software or $250 for the TFI right now anyway, so I'll have to "live" with just the exhaust for now and keep saving!
