I know this has prolly already been brought up before but I'm going on 6500 miles on the stockers and definitely need new ones. I've been looking at the Diablos and Pilots, but have also heard good things about Bridgestones as well. Any personal experience with any of these would be much appreciated. Thanks, -Matt |

I replaced my tires about 500 miles ago, with Pirelli Diablos. What a difference, but it could be just that the profile is better suited to my riding style. Overall the bike became more stable in the corners and required less grunt work to get her to stay in the corner. As for the compound it doesn't get as chewed up as the 207s and sticks better. Not only do they wear slower they also have a deeper tread so I am hoping they will last longer. My front 207 went into the wear marks at about 2000 miles and the rear soon followed. Good Luck. |

I'm really liking my Mich Pilot Roads. Sticky enough for everything below 9/10s riding (me) and should last at least double. Reasonable price too, at $220 set/shipped from TireExpress. |

I've got Syncs on my 04 XB9S, couldn't believe the difference they made over the stock tires. Best money you can spend on the bike is different tires, in my opinion. Good luck, Bill |

6500 miles on your stock tires?!? Wow. By the time I got 3500 miles on mine I had to pull the rear cause it was too sketchy on wet surfaces. I got a set of Scorpion Syncs sitting in the garage waiting to go on this Saturday. From what I've read here on Badweb, Everyone who has tried them has liked them a lot. Other good choices are Diablos, Diablo Strada (high mileage) & the Metzler Spotec M1. There are other good choices as well but my memory is failing me & I can't remember the names. When I get my Syncs on & scrubbed I'll type a few words about them in the Knowledge Vault tire area. |

3500 on the Dunlops?! 6500?!!!! Please explain how in the world either of you pulled that off? I was eating the stock 207 rears every 1500-2000 miles. I've been running Metzler Sportecs and I'm dancing a jig when I get 4000 out of those. |

I just put a new set of Sporttecs on my Firebolt. They are ok so far, I havent really had a good chance to give them a workout yet. |

It was "mostly" bald at 2900 miles. The tire would slip till it got leaned enough into the last bit of sticky rubber. I've been riding quite a bit more mild these last 600 miles. On dry roads it's not so bad. But the roads have been damp the last couple days & I had a good scare yesterday morning involving lots & lots or rear wheel spin. The bike now sits till this weekend when the new rubber goes on cause I don't want to take a chance on dumping my precious! err... I mean my bike. I have been using the Michelin Pilot Powers, with very good results. The have also been very favorably reviewed by Roadracing world, and other publications. Got 4500 out of the rear, including one track day. I used the front for 6500. Now I wish I hadn't. Even though there was tread left on the center of the tire, the profile had slowly changed more than I suspected, adversely affecting the handling. When I put a new front on last week, it seemed like a whole new bike. (As an aside, I wonder if the almost universal dissatisfaction with the original 207's may be more related to their performance at the end of their life than at the beginning. However, since their service life is so short, I don't think I will be buying another pair to find out:-) |

Ditto what Drake just said. I just passed 7k on my stock Syncs and they still have another thousand at least. I was thinking about the Diablo Stradas but, not sure if the "high mileage" moniker can compare to the Scorpions. My buddy on his 12r went from Sportecs to Pilot Powers and loves em. He said that the Metzlers and Pirellis are essentially the same tire (compound)? Not sure. |

Mileage is a hugely subjective issue. Some guys can't get 2k out of the stockers, I got 4500. I've gotten as much as 6k out of a Sportec, but some sets looked quite worn at 4k. I've gone through quite a few sets of M1 Sportecs and been quite pleased. On the other hand, the Pilot Powers seem to be an "up and coming" tire that's quickly becoming popular with the nesba crowd. I hear of as many people running PPs as I do PDCs (Pirelli Diablo Corsas). If mileage is your goal you might want to avoid that list altogether. Try the Roadtec Z6s, Diablo Stradas, AV45/46 (ST?), or the Pilot Roads. |

yeah i dont know how i pulled 6500 out them but i guess i did. ill have to post a pic of them. thanks for the input. mileage isnt my goal really, i want something in the middle of performance and mileage but more orientated in the performance side. |

I use Metzler M1 on the front and Metzler Z6 on the rear. I enjoy the twisties and taking things at a spirited pace... Subsequently i am pretty hard on tires. Getting good results from the this combination, both on traction as well as longevity |

I just put 3100 miles on the original D208's and they were toast. I just put a set of Pilot Roads on yesterday and have not ridden it yet. I'll see if this tire is too "touring" oriented and not enough "sport", but a lot of people seem to like them. |

I have had Dunlop 208s and 220s on a 98 S1W and was not impressed at all with the milage or the handling towards the end of the tire life...I recently looked at tires and wanted more of a sport touring tire for milage (and it is mostly straight in Florida).... Somewhere on Badweb there is a comparison thread (can't remember where though).... I considered and priced the Pirelli Diablo Stradas, Bridgestone BT020, Metzler Z6, and the Conti Road attacks... I choose the Bridgestone BRT 020s... The B tires feel immensely better, very confidence inspiring. Will have to wait for milage results. I searched up to 15 different mail order sites, and prices ranged greatly... One of the major (reliable) chain mail order parts advertises they will beat anybody's price by a buck.... I gave them the lowest price I found and sure enought they beat it.... Bridgestone BT 020s for $217 INCLUDING shipping. Feel free to ping me for further info on the prices.... |
