My running bulb on my bike quit working a couple of days ago. So i figured it was burned out. But it wasnt burned out when i went to replace it. so i thought maybe it was a fuse but all the lights are hooked up into one fuse. so that couldnt be the problem because all of my other lights work fine, even my bright. my next guess is that i fried the wires. because i ran a 100w bulb instead of a 55w. I'm confused and unsure. So any tips or insight is welcomed. thanks in advance. |

Well you are on the right track. It's likely the wire or the plug itself. I ran 100W bulb on my old car before and I installed the set up with heavier duty plug/wire with additional relays. That would be the only safe way to go if you are running a bulb with that much wattage drawing that much current, pumping out that much heat. On the XB-R's, since the housing is so small and the reflective paint is so damn weak, I would think even with the relay setup, the housing would build up enough heat to turn the reflective paint into dust in no time. After that, your light output would be weaker than if you have the stock bulbs on the bike. |

Swap it with the bulb out of the high beam and make certain that it is in fact still working and not broke enough to not pass sufficient current. |

Wycked- I replaced the old 100w running bulb with a brand new 55w bulb and it still did not turn on. |

Lp - check the wiring connections in the H7 socket where they connect to the friction connections. its possible that due to the heat buildup one of these connections has become fried. |

helpful hint, when you put the head light connector back together use a little bit of dielectric grease, it will keep corrosion out and keep you hopefully trouble free |

your R model uses an H3 bulb, perhaps you have a loose ground connection? |
