Well fellas I am now an official member of the Buell family. I bought one of the left over 04 models on Saturday. As the Mckie Dees commercial says "I'm Lovin it". Two questions. 1) How many of you guys sing the Christmas song "Chest nuts roasting on an open fire" while riding the bike. I would like to have the ability to father more children 2) I was informed by my insurance company (Sentry/Dairyland) that they would not cover the bike. I am 38yrs old, clean record, Married (for now wife pissed I got the bike ) with children. Who do you guys use? |

Cajun, That hot feeling downstairs will go away after break in and the first oil change, I had the same concern with mine..if you have a Low like me , i am sure it is worse than the standard seat. Strange that Dairyland won't cover you ,I am a similar age and I get my coverage through them ,although it is up for renewal next month, I will have to wait and see what happens. I never thought about not being covered by them because of my age and clean record. I am covered through their national office not a local agent. Buelluk, I sure hope it goes away, my under britches has skid marks on the outside |

I thought Buell was working with Dairlyland specifically to help the insurability of the XB and older Buells. Maybe I mis-read that. |

I'm currently with Alpha Property & Casualty through US insurance services. I hadn't heard of them before I bought my XB, the dealer set me up with them. They're the cheapest I've found by a long shot. That being said, I'm still paying ~$1100/year on a relatively clean driving record. FWIW, Progressive wanted $3600/year with a $500 deductible. It really makes their "we know motorcycles" advertising seem like a sick joke. I've read in numerous places that Buell has been working with insurance companies to bring rates down and I've seen Anonymous posts indicating that Dairyland is the best bet for good rates on Buells. |

I have Geico and pay $800/year with a clean driving record. However, according to Geico, the VIN for my 12 classified my bike as a 9. It might explain the lower cost I pay compared to the outrageous quotes I got elsewhere. |

Progressive insurance - $140.00 per year. Thats for my 2003 Ducati 749S and my 2004 Buell XB12R. No hassle, sign up over the internet, no annoying agents. Add and remove people from your policy on their webpage. In case you're wondering, I had full coverage on both bikes the first year - $2000 per year. Somebody could spit on the bike and they would send somebody to clean it off. I decided to throw caution to the wind - screw insurance - so I switched to the most basic coverage I could get. |

Cajunrph - I got a couple of quotes from online and some ads. Then I asked my Allstate agent to get me a quote. She shopped it around for me and got me hooked up with Progressive for $230 a year. That's for good liability, no collision, fair comprehensive coverage, and heavy emphasis on uninsured motorists coverage. The second place finisher was Dairyland at over $400. I'm 63, clean record, and have had a MC license for a long time. Jack |

Try Country Insurance, $320/year w/multi vehicle/home discount for 40yr. old, married, clean record. As far as your nuggets go, they must be "air cooled" too, ride a little faster! |

Just got 2 vastly different quotes. Geico around $400.00 and progressive at over $700.00. Same coverage but Geico asked more detailed questions. I will call the dealer and get a quote from them. I could find no link on the AMA website regarding insurance coverage. Anyone has the link? |

as to the roasting, I recently installed a small sheepskin pad because after a few hundred miles the seat on my CityX got fairly painful......one of the side benefits I discovered is that it provides a good amount of insulation from the engine heat. I bought it at a rally, but I think Googling Alaska Sheepskin will find it (delux small pad). Progressive insurance handles my coverage, no problem. |

For the roasted nuts syndrome, check out Odie's under seat barrier - heavy duty reflective weave that does a good job of keeping the head off. He should be in the sponsor section. As for insurance, I just renewed my Dairyland insurance last month - full coverage on my '04 XB12R and the 92 BMW K75S for $366 a year, and I've had three claims to the insurance company since 2000, I'm 28. |

Contacted Dairyland today and was told that they do cover the bike, $605.00 full coverage, 222 for comp and liability. So I will go with them. |

I use liberty mutual insurance. The one drawback is that you must insure a car w/them. It kind of works on the same principle as state farm. If you have an auto policy underwritten by them the cost for the motorcycle policy is much cheaper. I moved both my cars and the new bike to LIBERTY MUTUAL INSURANCE and w/one claim and the rates were way cheaper than what I was paying with allstate. I have full coverage on an 04'xb12r 250/500,000 and I want to say it's @$480/year. Call @ because our ages are the same and everyone here has no tickets or accidents on their driver's abstract. Happy hunting! |
