I am thinking about putting a set of cams on my 01 X1. I just want to wake it up a little more. I already have the full buell race kit and its kicking out 78lbs of tourqe and 86hp to the rear wheel with a fresh top end. So, here is my question. What kind of cams can I put in the engine without having to replace the Valve springs? I dont want to float any more valves, but I just had the top end re-done and would hate to take off the heads again. Thanks! |

You're at the limit of what you "should" run in terms of valve springs. The stock X1 cams are about as aggressive as you'd want to go without some better springs. I put X1 cams in my M2 and went with better springs and keepers. Bike has the Buell race kit, but is stock other than that. I make 91 RWHP and 84 FTLBS torque.
