Blake: You have been banned, due to U.N. treaty stipulations, from Bonneville. Like Aluminum powder, it's not JUST you, but what you might due mixed with a powerful Aussie-dizer. As Team Manager, I am prepared to deal with Loonigans going 200MPH...but, even I know better than to toss an Aussie and a Texican in the Salt Flats Crucible. I may let you come, but you . . . unlike the other boys and girls. . . must provide a "why I should be allowed to attend" essay on your registration! Blake: As you can see.....Bonneville is not for the feint of heart. The first year FMJH and Bantz are dancing, spurred by the effects of the drink, down the main steeet of Wendover.... Then this ugly scene. . . This TEAM ELVES is dangerous business... |

Alex: Absolutely......Folks who have registered have had the opportunity on the form to express interest. Based on not wanting to deal with left over inventory again, I am going to be placing the order in a bit and will work off the registrations plus a "cushion" to allow some to be sold. The shirt this year is going to be more of a "Race Team" style... We'll have them for sale on the website soon. Court |

"I hope to use the list for volunteers as this year is going to take lots of help." 5 am Monday morning and I read the above. The Mental picture of Rocket in a dirty t-shirt and and skirt as an unmbrela person is not the way to start the working week. |

Met one milestone today, the frame/front wheel got united with the engine/rear wheel. Still a mountain of work to do though. |

Aaron,no front brake, huh? I see that you necked it down in triple clamps again--does this affect high speed stability at all?It looks like you shortened springs--not much travel? How are you lowering rear? The lettering you used for the sponsors etc.what/how did you use? Thanks,Jim H. |

FMJ: no front brake, and the rear brake lever is on the right handlebar. On the front height and stability, remember there's a corresponding lowering in the rear, so rake stays the same. You prolly saw how much I dropped the RR's forks in the trees, over 4", it was fine. Front springs were only shortened enough to allow me to install them. The forks were shortened by strategic placement of a couple of Big Twin wrist pins in line with the top-out spacer deep within the damper assembly. That dropped'em about 2.5". I dropped'em another inch in the trees, and I could move'em about one more inch there before I hit the tapered portion of the tube, if I decide I need to. On the rear, first I've got a Westek front shock mount that lowers it some. Second, I'll put a top-out spacer in the shock (hence the usage of an exposed spring shock). Not sure what total drop I'll end up with yet. The top of the seat has to be at or below 36". The swingarm is 6" over, and that changes the amount of lowering you get from a given device. I just go to sign shops to get vinyl lettering made, unless a sponsor provides them (ASB, Battle2win, ATC all provided their own). Your bike's looking like a racer! It'll be interesting to see that Air-tech stuff up close, I really considered going that way myself. Have you had your bike on the dyno yet? Bring it over! |

Aaron, Just in case of rear tire traction issues, it might not hurt to have the stock swingarm at the salt as a spare. |

Way ahead of you Blake ... it's even assembled to the swingarm block, bearing preload set, ready to slap on. There's a trade-off at work here, rear traction versus front lift. I thought I'd try this longer setup to start with, go with the shorter if we can't get the power down. Another thing, it's being lowered so much it loses much of it's anti-squat. |

Aaron etc, Our quad city effort will be on speed channel tomorrow. Not sure if it will be bike week or motorcyclist. 6 -7 pm cdt?? It would be nice if I could remember anything I said. It might be of interest to get a feel for what they are interested in as it looks like they will definitely be out there with us for several days. I personally recommend feeding the cameraman as a start. Dave Despain had definitely heard of TeamElves but the salt experience should impress the hell out of him. Are the sportster crowd going to be out again this year?? I think I am more suited to sacborg than national cable tv |

Steve, don't wish, just do it. You only get one trip on the big wheel of life. I can tell you after the previous two years that any year Team Elves is at Bonneville and I can get my leg over a scooter that I'll be there. You'll thank yourself everytime your mind drifts to the experiences you had there. There'll be more surprises at Bonneville than you can shake a stick at. No matter how your "anti-squat" is hangin' you owe it yourself to be there. JB2 |

Uhhhh.....well...that's technically an "accurate" statement but woefully understates what I expect to see happen. Of course, how could my Elf-Mate in Hartford City know that I just registered the FIRST BUELL XB9R in the competition......while on the phone arranging a party that scares even me, to celebrate the internation "flavor" of the event. I susepct that "flavor" and any reference to "taste" will be quickly eroded as we parade our British freind in knee boots and fishnets past America's greatest concentration of trailer parks and pawn shops..... Aaron, I think this whole deal will make excellent tv. We don't have any confirmation on when despain is planning on being out there, he is supposed to call me in the next few weeks for more info on speed week. If they are going to be out for several days, we should have a great shot of getting the elves story to a pretty big audience. Team exceleraton may make a good human interest story but TeamElves is almost like a made for tv movie. Paul |
