Help!! I have a 2002 M2L Cyclone. I just came back from the beach and my headers and pipe are completely rusted. I've only had this bike 3 or 4 months and the pipes look like crap! I can't believe how much damage happened in a week. Lesson learned I'll never take my bike to the beach again. Is there anything I can do? will sanding polishing help? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I take it in tomorrow for the 2500 mile maintainance. Mothers will remove the Rust...I live at the beach use it and mine aren't rusty. There are coatings that you can have plated on for probably less than $100; here's one and here's another. On the first I've met a number of Ducati guy's that have used them and the results are sweet. Jespo_M2 DCBRAG will be there! Should be a lot of fun. Roderick Anonymoose is on the right track You mentioned your red engine light comes on and goes away after passing 3.7k. That sounds like the battery voltage is low and only reving it keeps the voltage above the level that causes the ECM to turn on the light (I don't remember what the trigger voltage is) Either change the battery, or disconnect, clean and reconnect everything using dielectric grease and charge the battery and see if it will help. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Xfudog....Look for a chaffed O2 sensor wire. When I was on the Buell California tour mine chaffed because it was installed in a bad location. this casues the sensor to ground and tell the ECM to dump gas like a fire hose. I would bet thats it. Jimmyc - If I were you I would go back to Latus and take them up on their offer to give you your money back. It is a sad state of affairs for current Buell owners, but if you shop around you could get basically the same bike for $2-3,500 less. I would not do business with Latus. Every time my bike has gone in there it has come out with more problems. The employees don't have a nice thing to say about Buells. If you are stuck in the deal I would have Mike Stegman, probably not spelled correctly, work on your bike. He works for them and knows what he is doing, it may cost a premium to have him work on your bike though. You should check out Destinaiton HD in Portland. They are making an effort for Buell owners, started a BRAG club, and I have had much better luck with them. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Just a little note Smog in LA is now mostly caused by an increase in amonia(sp) which can be traced to catalitic(sp) converters. My primary argument I always come back to is "as long as the city/county/state/federally owned vehicles in California are exempt from EPA/CARB/BAR regulations and exempt from being required from having the SMOG equipment on their owned/leased vechiles, then they are hypocritical and their judgement and motives are suspect and flawed; also, as long as they are selling commercial SMOG credits from complying corporations to non-complying corporations, then I will assume they are in the clean air business for primarily monetary reasons, and clean air is secondary to their motives". Fix the corruptions and double standards, then and only then will I be willing to consider that they might remotely have good intentions. Roderick Also check the grounding strap from the frame to the swingarm a little corrosion there will go a long way to cause electrical problems. Also check that the exhaust is installed correctly and properly grounded. Dyna, There was an entry for "The Harley Shop" (local dealer in Longview, TX, not a Buell dealer though  ) where a customer was actually griping about the shop calling him at home to advise that they forgot to return the wheel/axle spacers with the wheel on which they had just mounted and balanced his new tire and fitted new bearings. The shop called as soon as they noticed the loose spacers. He should have known to leave the spacers at home in the first place to avoid such a scenario. Xgecko, I would just warn you. I had my headers done by Jet Hot in their chrome finish, and although it looks good and holds the finish well down the pipes, it cannot withstand the heat right by the exhaust manifold, and has not only lost its sheen, but is showing slight rust-like accumulation. The Jet-Hot on mine didn't look all that great on the bends when I got it. After a few months the upper section was grey (not chrome) and after a year looked terrible. There are some pretty neat dual headlight setups in England. Either look in Fast Bikes, Performance Bikes, or see if you can get to www.demon-tweeks.co.uk. ***Dale, Like this one? I only searched on Wisconsin, there's probably more out there.*** Well, I haven't been doing my normal lurking for a couple days, so forgive the time in replying back. Yeah, exactly...the price doesn't seem to out of hand on that either...would you all agree? Court, I didn't know Aaron may sell his....ever since I picked up that RR1200 for Aaron originally, then sent it on to Jim, I've been dreaming of one of these bikes. Their isn't much really fancy about them, but I like their raw faired look. I did have an eye on one in West Virginia for awhile, but finances put that on hold then. I'd really like to score on a RR, but a RS would be cool too. Thanks folks! Dale A. |
