If you want a K model you have to go back to the 1950's: Oops, wrong K model, try this one: Hope you like flatheads. |

No luggage though, I want the sport model I would love to find and rebuild one of those someday... after I get rich and the kids go off to college (Message edited by reepicheep on August 12, 2005) |

The further Sportsters get away from that, the worse they look. I thought it would have been really cool if they'd done a retro-look Sportster when the "all new" one came out in ~2004 (?). Worst change they ever made to them was changing from the 18" to 16" rear wheel. Long and lanky is cool. |

Jlnance, Nah, even that one's small compared to the Kansai Airport barge cranes that made an island for the airport to sit on, and a bridge connecting it to mainland... Here's a satellite view of the scale of the project Here's a barge in action They're bigger than the control tower! I love big machinery! |

Here are some pics of the crane at Miller Park and a link to pictures of the accident that killed 3 people. They used this crane to lift the roof into place http://www.uwm.edu/Dept/EHSRM/PROJECT/crane.html |

Ahh, "Big Blue". Man, that was a mess. I followed it pretty closely when it happened. The crane collapsed while lifting a HUGE section of the movable stadium roof into place. Debris hit another crane that was hoisting 3 guys up in a lift basket, and they were killed. The roof section fell into the stadium and was destroyed. Massive damage was done to the partially finished stadium. Mitsubishi was the construction contractor, and the crane was built and owned by Lampson, who specializes in big cranes like this. The widows sued everybody, Mitsubishi sued Lampson, Lampson sued Mitsubishi, it was a legal mess. From what I gathered, the root cause of the accident was that the wind speed was high enough to put a significant side load on the roof section, which caused the crane boom to be side loaded, fail, and collapse. It turned out there was a wind gauge installed on the crane but it was broken. Lots of finger-pointing about who's fault that was. Some guys were actually filming the crane when it happened. |

That accident was on 'Modern Marvel's' on TLC or the discovery channel, don't remember which. Wind was the major factor, and the snapping sound can actually be heard when the crane reached its load limits. |

Going back on topic, just for laughs, there's a guy over at CF named Empathy that's been trying very hard for a while now to convince anyone who will listen that Buell is on it's last legs. I think he rides a Triumph Speed Four. I also think it's wishful thinking on his part. We'll have to do our best to disappoint him! |
