Ya Right Bob! We'll see how much you would have liked to have been there when we know just how much our contribution to Humbolt County is.... I was leading a pack of 4 on Hwy 101, 30 miles south of Eureka, and we all got tagged for 82 in a 65. Oh well, could have been worse. At least the roads that day were a Blast! Kurt in Sac |

John...How did we know that Bobby would have to be in that group?...What, you mean they papered a gal wearing leather?...That's, uh, un-American, at the very least and a gross smear on the integrity of all men...Wait, was the occifer a she?...Tell Mrs Scot not to run in such rough company...So, how does this work in CA?...Around here, you either hire a gunslinger or talk to the prosecutor youself and if you have a clean record, they plead it down to a non-moving and no points for 1 1/2 the cost of the original violation...I've gotten real good at this doing the Iron Butt thing...Something tells me, though, that CA is not like this...Inquiring minds and all that!...What's really hilarious, is to listen to Euro bikers traveling our fair land who have had close encounters of the speed revenue collecting kind...They can't believe how hung up our law enforcement types are on speed...I've come to consider it kind of like, tires, insurance, gas, etc...Roll them all into the cost of riding...But the points thing sucks 'cuz it effects everything downstream... See Ya! Bob |

Dino, ya gotta admit i was pretty smooth with Officer Gibbs up there on Big Pines (good thing he ONLY got us for 80-something in a 40-something and MISSED us molesting the yellow-yellow), but... ...i can't believe you haven't mentioned what he said his favorite bike in our group was!?! oh, and BTW: it's one down, five up. got it? one down AND five up FB |

Ferris: Okay, here's the real skinny on that gear thang. I tried using those other ones once...and I ended up with chain lube every where but on the chain. I swore I'd never do it again. Yes, apparently Officer Gibbs is partial to the Kan-a-tuna. Don't know whether it was that, our plea for friendly international relations with our neighbors to the north (thanks S3Dave), or maybe he just thought you were cute. Dino |

A belated hello to everyone from the California BRAG ride. After four days back at work behind my computer keyboard, I am going bonkers dreaming about the next ride. My company threw a party at Dave&Busters yesterday where there are video rides, among them Speed Motorcycle Racing. You actually sit on a motorcycle seat, shift, and crank throttle. Very lifelike simulation. I managed to careened into multiple walls and performed several other Virtual Annihilation maneuvers. Pretty interesting after seven days of Real riding with no Master Resets. This is my first post to badweatherbikers. Tom from Sandiego (friend of Al Lighter). |

ReinDog, good to see you jump on here! thanks for a great day of riding, and can't wait to see your pix of RoadRage's tractor now then, back to that Dino feller for a minute...if you're counting Sparky's pal Sheriff Billy Joe Bob up there in Three Rivers, you and i both know his visit wasn't my fault. one of the boys back in the "Granny" section with you, who shall remain nameless, admitted that he door-buzzed both those cars that narced on us when he passed, which was totally unnecessary. as you've seen with me, there ARE ways to ride hot AND professionally, and banging your right mirror off a cager's left mirror on the way by, ramming gears in the guy's ear, ain't one of them. i DID think it was cool, however, when we all waved to him on the way out of town as he hid in his Special Place with his Ticket Pistol pointed our direction ride too lean, FB |

pss to Dino: if you DID actually shift outta first gear once in a while, that lube crap would fly farther due to increased rotational inertia, and probably would end up on that frikkin' motorhomo we just passed instead of all over your K'Tonya! |

Here's a few of the pictures I took. First, here's Juan (RdRage) after his offroad excursion. Fireman Jim next to him, DustyKat down next to the bike fixing his shifter. But for the grace of god went I, I was right in front of him and was dangerously close to sliding out on the same mud. Both of us had accelerated for the photographer right ahead of the turn to get a better lean angle. I watched him biff in my rear view as I was thinking "I hope no one follows the horrible line I just took thru that corner". This is the first real stop on the first day of the ride, in Idylwild. It had been pissing on us earlier in the day, but by this time, was beautiful. The road right before this was one of the nicest on ride, but by the time the trip was over, we'd been on so many nice ones I had virtually forgotten about it. Here's Ferris charging out of a corner, FJ right on his tail. This shot is in front of the hotel in Bakersfield. Left to right, FJ, me, Vik (Eeeek),EB,Brother 1 (forget name),Darryl(Sparky),Brother 2 (forget name), the driver of the truck that was there to haul Erik's firebolt back to Wisconsin (Erik had to fly back for scheduled family member surgery, I was told), Eric (Ebear). Brother2 lives in LA and owns an S3 and an S1, Brother1 came from Michigan and did the whole ride on an S1 seat. Ouch. Great shot of Darryl and Jen in a turn! Darryl and Jen were the only two up riders in the group, and their bike was LOADED. But Darryl can still spank it. Bobby (Cap'n America), pre crash. His smiles were a little bigger then....Beautiful bike, and it will be again. Me in Buellton. Tom and I didn't have hotel reservations on the Ca coast on memorial day weekend, no rooms in San Louis Obispo, Pismo Beach, Santa Maria. But we pull into Buellton, and we got the last room on the coast. Fate. Al |

GREAT pix, Mr. Lightened -- THANKS! oh, and um, muchas gracias for not identifying the fellow in RoadRage's shot standing behind Fireman Jim, um, the fellow with the red/black/white Joe Rocket jacket and the FRIKKIN' BLINDINGLY WHITE HAIR!!! also, it appears that Sparky and Jen could use a lesson or two in figuring out exactly WHAT to hang off when negoshing a corner at speed again, great pix, are there more? pleeeeease??? OK, heres a few more This is Lions Tail, the amazing drying road on the second day a litle past Tehapachi pass. We'd gone a few miles past this point on steaming roads..literally couldn't see the road from the steam coming off of it. Turned around to go back to this photo op, and when we went back up, it was completely dry. Fun road. Another shot of the guys from the same vantage point, giving a sacborg salute After Lions tale, we headed towards Lake Isabella on a very fun road that would've been even funner if there hadn't been some wet spots. This is high above Lake Isabella. By the time it took us to get down to a gas station there, the skies had darkened and a serious rain/hail storm hit. We were able to park at a gas staion under cover and eat a nice lunch at a Mexican restaurant. This is practically in Ferris's back yard. Here's a couple action shots, from Lions Tale I believe. DustyK and Fred (vik?) Bobby This is Tom Riener (Reindog) and me in front of the Buell truck that was to take Erik's bike back to Wisconsin from Bakersfield. We were gonna offer money to the driver for the ECM from the bike .... On the way back from Yosemite, we went on a dirt road for about 4 miles. Some decided to turn around, a few of us decided to keep going, and less than a mile later, we were on pavement. We beat the others to Coulter, and while there, hung out near a little museum. This is Bobby in some ancient Mini-Mike Loco. BrentX1's beautiful X1. I love that color, and he got the paint job for a mere $280 or so. He showed up in Modesto, rode to Tahoe with a local friend on a Harley bagger. They were running significantly behind the pace and liked Tahoe so much, they decided to just stay there. The view from our 9th floor North Shore Tahoe room Tom has a non-digital camera, when he develops his pics I'll scan some of them in and post them. But the pics we REALLY want to see is Jack's. He had a big body digital camera and a little one, and was taking lots of pics. I bet he has some very good ones. My Kodak digital pretty much sucks. FredX1 had a digital vid camera, so his action shots are movies that he can extract the best shot from in 640x480 resolution. I'll not waste anymore net bandwidth with my less than stellar shots, a photographer I'm not. Lightened |

Whoops, one didn't load Vik on Erik's 'bolt, in Bakersfield. My turn next. One of the things that was real col is how well Leslie/BRAG took care of us at each hotel. Free breakfasts, a wash station set up at every hotel, special parking places roped off for us and under cover if available. Leslie did a great job planning this. As I've said before, if you don't take advantage of the BRAG rides, you're really missing out. I'd bet we got over $300 worth of perks for our $65 entry fee, between hotel discounts, food, maps etc. She even made sure the bars took care of us. Al |

awesome pix again, Al, many thanks! the shot "high above Lake Isabella" is indeed in my backyard -- from that vantage point you can see my house down below. anytime i have riding buds over, i take 'em up the Lion's Trail and show 'em EXACTLY why i moved to California in the first place! and the shot from your hotel room at Tahoe, how bitchin' is THAT? GORGEOUS! geez-o-pete, am i sorry i couldn't do the whole gig with you guys. i have been threatening for years to put together some sort of high-performance annual Sierra ride, and the BRAG adventure sure got my juices flowing..... ride to dream, FB |

Here's a quick few of mine: Across the street from San Diego Buell...foreshadowing? No sir, that must have been another group of Pyscho bikers. I'm at a loss for words. I am NOT this good of a photographer, I just had an awesome view to work with. Highway 120. Looks kinda fun, doesn't it? Last call? Screw last call! View from my room in Tahoe, on the lowly 3rd floor.

Dino, Can you tell without seeing, which finger I am holding up?. We will make it out there and when we do I fully expect to ride with both you and Ferris. New pistons and jugs arrived the other day and I expect to have the "Beast" put back together by this evening. Mine is a rather long story so I will just give you a brief summary. It turns out that Millinium sent thunderstorm pistons with the cylinders. The installer did not know the difference. I have a 97 with regular heads. They lasted about 500 miles before I was stranded in Tulsa. The correct parts are now here and I will assemble the engine today. Ofcourse, you and Ferris could always join Racerboy and I for a ride here in Missouri or Arkansas.
