...on my tank bag decision. Too... many... choices! Anyone want to venture a guess as to the litre size of the newer Buell XB tankbags? It's not listed on the website. Or how about interior measurements? Both of these seem to be how you can compare bags. | ||

For anyone who is going to muddle my mind with a plethora of new choices (Trac95ker - I mean that in the friendliest way of course - any info is welcome), please talk about how the mounting experience was, how it mounts, where the straps go, did you have to change anything, etc..etc.. The primary reason to choose the Buell bag is for what I would hope would be a perfect custom mounting system, but if others offer that too... then...well... I second the tri-bag. Run the small bag with your essentials and add the base bag when you need the room. | ||

I tried rigging up a magnetic setup but it didnt work out. I just got the new buell bag last week and spent a couple days riding around with it. The mounting is great and holds the bag tight but you do have to deal with looking at the clips on the bike at all times. As far as interior room. Not expanded i got a pair of jeans, 2 shirts 2 underwear 2 undershirts 2 socks. I wear all XL and my jeans are a 40 waist, so theres a decent amount of material there. I actually still had room for some toiletry stuff without expanding the bag. Expanding the bag i could easily get another 2 days worth of cloths in there. Theres also a pouch in the top flap that i used for putting the raid cover and some rain gear in. The map pouch was great for sticking directions and my ez pass. There is a pouch that snaps on the back of the bag that is ment to hold a cd player but i wasnt to thrilled with having that sitting there because it seemed like i was leaning against it, not to say it was uncomforable, just kinda annoying. I also have the newer Buell bag. It attaches well, but I don't like having the clips on the bike all the time. Also, have to unclip both front clips every time I gas up. I do like the rubber contact areas underneath. As for room, it's large enough but not generous (larger items--a carton of milk, loaf of bread, etc. can be difficult). Just used the bike for two overnight trips, on one I had to carry hardhat and coveralls to go on a worksite--got those, plus several shirts, etc., into the bag. I have the tailbag too, which helps. Like Stainless, I don't have any use for the CD-player attachment--it is definitely in the way, my arms are short and I'm leaning against the bag as it is. Also, the zippers are the somewhat less durable coil ones--I wonder when they'll start gaping open. The expansion bellows is nice, though--it allows me to expand only the front of the bag (fully expanded, the bag contacts me under the chin...). All told, it's a nice bag for the price, and I have no regrets about buying it. Looks good on the bike, too. | ||

I use the same Eclipse bag as Bubabuell on my X1 and really like it. Just wish I could have fit the larger Eclipse on the bike as that is by far the best tank bag I have ever used. Actually, I could have, but I would have had a conflict with the exposed tank vent. Wish they had a rerouting kit for that dang vent. | ||

I use an icon bag it comes in a blue that looks good on my xb12s that also blue. not tons of room but i dont carry much anyways.i mostly use it to take lunch to work in so its perfect for me. had to fab my on straps since bag has magnets. | ||

I did what Stainlessmag did, but with three hard drive magnets under the airbox cover. Hard drive magnets, 'specially those from a SCSI, are wicked strong. Works well enough with a Cortech Micro tank bag, but I have a windshield...  |
