Saw a lot of posts about special tools for XB wheel bearing removal that I didn't use when I did mine. This probably won't work for anyone else so try at your own risk. I simply welded a nut to the inner race of the old wheel bearing so I had something to push on to get it out. If you work fast the wheel doesn't even begin to get warm. You only do this on one side because once the first bearing is out the spacer is no longer in the way and the second is easy. Start to finish my wheel bearing change-out including a new tire was under an hour. Good luck, now get back to riding! |

Now that is a great idea! I'm going to use it next time I have to do wheel bearings (soon). Thanks! Brad |

What about installing the bearings? Can I just knock them into place with a mallet and a block of wood? |
