Today I went against my better judgment and let my lifelong friend ride the Buell. He has only ridden ricers previously. Anyways, he is going to the HD dealership to buy one this week. It was cool seeing him as excited as I was the first time I rode a Buell. I did forget to tell him how much is it to insure one in NC. Oops.

Yeah, when I first bought the xb in 03 HD/Progressive gave me a great insurance price. Next year it tripled, broke my Buell lovin heart. Still smile everytime I ride though.

PROGRESSIVE ARE DIRT-BAGS. it is a bait and switch tactic, low introductory rate, thean triple at renewal. do not conduct business with that company.

Got my renewal last month from Dairyland. $366 for the year for full coverage on the '04 XB12R and the '92 BMW K75S.

So far I've had three claims with them, but none of them have affected my rates. The one last August which was about $1900 is on the back of my renewal page, with a note about not exceeding state limits? Guess they don't increase it if you don't go over a certain amount?

If you can get it, USAA is the best insurance out there. It's only for federal employees and their dependents, though. They beat Dairyland on coverage rates (but not by much).

Dairyland was the only insurance company that would touch me with a red hot driving record, btw. I spent years with them before I was able to get on with USAA.

Dairyland is part of Sentry now, maybe that's where their web presence is? They are great, BTW.

Good for you Jason. The specs will never convince anyone to try a Buell. All it takes is one ride to understand how different they are and now well they work.

USAA farms out their motorcycle insurance to Progressive.

Progressive stopped insuring motorcycles in NC. A friend of mine had his V-Rod insured through HD/Progessive. He received a letter about 2 months ago saying he needed to find alternate insurance because Progressive will no longer insure his bike in NC.

Geez, I must be their only satisfied customer. I've been using AMA SureRider (by progressive) for over 12 years. Multiple bike discount, great rates, great service. Then again, no claims ever, married, over 40, MSF Experienced Rider Grad, two kids, no moving violations for 26 years next month...
