Are most of the M2 parts usable on an S3? I'm looking for extra parts for my '99 and have seen some M2 parts that look close. Also, does anyone know of an interchangability list between the models available anywhere? I did a KV search and came up blank, but I'm sure I'm not the first to want one! |

most parts interchange. any specifics in mind? i can give you a definitive yea or nay... lesse: front to back: you can swap out the entire front end, (but NOT individual components aside from instruments, bars and controls)all the same steering head bearings, frames (although the S3 has a longer tailsection) enigines, all engine components, fuel tank, oil tank, saddle, pegs, header, muffler, rims, brakes, brake components, drivebelt, tires, rims, electronic components, battery, hugger, and many, many more items are interchangeable betwixt the two models. I think I've swapped out all of the above at some time or another. |

The S3 frame has a different rear section from the M2, which means you'll either have to see a welder ( especially if you want to keep the bags), or change tail sections and seats, tail lights and modify the wiring harness. |

the seats interchange fine without mods Huh? I don't think so. an M2 seat is considerably different. But I could be wrong... |

'course I could be wrong too, never tried an S3 seat on the M2 myself. Seems like something to try before the next ride while waiting for folks to show up. I gotta go hide offline now for a bit |

yep- believe it or not, the M2 seat fits my S2 like a glove. I've interchanged most of 'em with nary a hitch. never could stand the original S2 "Organ Grinder" saddle... (Message edited by tramp on July 28, 2005) |

"...never could stand the original S2 "Organ Grinder" saddle..." Couldn't be any worse than the factory S-1 suppository... |
