Yeah XB12s plus Corbin= happyass. I have twice ridden my XB a thousand miles per day. would not have attempted such an excursion without a corbin saddle. |

I am awaiting the delivery of my Corbin as we speak. Al at American Sport Bike knows how to come through for the Badwebbers. Nuts |

It's been like pulling teeth getting Corbin seats for the XB-S model this summer. At any given time, I've got probably 5 or 6 on order getting built, and they lost their covering guy earlier this summer and we've been playing catch-up ever since while they've trained his replacement. I open the box and inspect every one, and I've had to reject more than a few for not straight seams (had to do one today sorry Jason!). It unfortunately makes for more delays, it is really hard to turn a seat back when I know a customer has been waiting a few weeks for it. But we got burned on a few seats earlier this summer before we started a detailed inspection of each, so none leave without my (or Joanne's) approval. Frankly, I'm disappointed in Corbin's QC department in this regard. But the overall seat design is the best thing out there, I can put a lot more miles in the Corbin saddle than I can the Buell seat. I'm very interested in seeing this new Buell Select seat. Hopefully Buell has come to understand that no amount of padding will make up for a deficient seat pan shape. Al |

I'm very interested in seeing this new Buell Select seat. Hopefully Buell has come to understand that no amount of padding will make up for a deficient seat pan shape. You would think after all the years people have been buying aftermarket seats. HD and Buell would have made a seat that could compete with the aftermarket ones. I will never understand that. |

I've never worked in industry, only at the university where I got my Masters, so my real-world experience is limited. But: engineering is not just about making neat things, it's about making neat things while compromising with the folks in Accounting and Marketing. As long as it should cost X dollars while providing Y dollars in profit, there will be a compromise. Besides that, there's the fact that Buell's directly billed customers are the Dealers, and THEY like to sell more things (parts and accessories) to people that have already made their one-time (or once-every-three-years) 'big' purchase. On topic, I should add that my new Corbin rocks (thanks again, Al!) And no, it didn't fit right out of the box, though a few minutes with the Dremel fixed that. Can you imagine how bad it would be for Buell if they bought one of these and included it with every new bike? (Message edited by davefla on July 28, 2005) |

Thanks again Al, I have found patience easily because I know you're inspecting the product to ensure we won't lose more time in returns. American Sport Bike service like no well maybe few others. NUTS |

I bought mine, haven't put it on yet because I may sell my xb9s for the LONG xb12ss. So if the xb12ss fits me, I may have one for-sale at reduced price. I'll keep my arse off of it until I decide. |

I've dropped 20 pounds since I bought my Corbin. It seems a touch hard now for some reason. Bob |

Well that don't make me happy. I was just thinking about ordering a Corbin for my SX. Guess I just wait and see what the new seats are like. |

I hate my Corbin. It's too hard and it is too flat and wide. When I put a foot down the seat rubs the inside/back of my thigh. After a day of riding I'm practically raw! I just got in from about 450 miles and I don't hardly want to sit down. The way it cups your butt prevents you from shifting your weight around. It forces you to sit in one position for so long that I get two sore places, I guess right under my pelvis. I wish Sargent made a seat for the XB9s! |

To those of you interested in a better seat that don't want to deal with Corbin, and who don't want to spend ~$350+ for a custom-engineered seat from one of the Iron Butt seat guys, I'd highly recommend Sargent Seats in Jacksonville, FL. http://www.sargentcycle.com/ For around $200, you can get your stock seat recovered and modified to your specifications. They have a list of available options (coverings, seat patterns, foam, rec-contouring, etc.). I belong to the Yahoo Honda VT500FT Ascot group and 10 or 12 of us have had seats re-worked by Sargent with very good results. I picked up an extra stock seat for my S3 off of ebay and plan to have it reworked by Sargent when my budget allows. All the usual disclaimers apply... |

Whodom, I think Sargents are awesome, but I wouldn't want a stock seatpan recovered. They are a poor design, the shape is a little funny, but more importantly there is a lot of movement when attached. They shift forward and back (freaks me out when I ride hard), so I'd hate to put $200 into a custom seat that doesn't even fit on the bike properly. At least the Corbin fits rock solid. |

Yahooboy, I can't blame you for that. Sargent does make complete seats for some bikes, but unfortunately Buell isn't one of them. Maybe if enough people showed an interest that would change... |

I spoke to the people from Sargent's at the national BMW Rally last weekend..I was a happy Sargent's customer for the way they rebuilt the seat on my Beemer. I had the Buell at the BMW rally (just to make trouble); I brought the XB9SX seat over to let the Sargent's folks analyze it for possible improvement. There were 2 conclusions. He thinks Buell uses decent foam, which he said was better than most Harley seats. In addition, he could not improve my seat without adding height, which made it a no-go for me. I bought a sheepskin pad, which helps, and may order one of the new Select seats after I hear some feedback. |

I have not tried the select seat, but yesterday I went to the Buell demos in my city and I must say the 2006 stock seats are a HUGE improvement! Feels like they have used some sort of gel in the new seats... |
