I have an '03 XB9S. When I rev the throttle at idle, it takes a second or two for the revs to come down once I let off the throttle. I've seen some videos on this board (new exhausts, etc) and their revs come right down. Which is normal? Or is the new exhaust improving response? Thanks, Scott | ||

Check to see if you idle is just a touch too high. | ||

If that doesn't do it, might need a TPS reset, but should be lower the idle a little and get rid of it. | ||

The idle is dead on 1000 rpm once the engine is warm. What is a TPS reset? I just bought this bike so I'm not too familiar with it. | ||

TPS: Throttle Position Sensor. The TPS reset defines zero throttle for the computer. This is a very important sensor because the bikes have no mass flow air sensor. | ||

LOL race ecm will not fix that,Start your bike n let it run for 5min THEN adjust the idle to 1050. | ||

For me, if it's above the 1050, then the revs stay high, and don't come back down, and if they are just under the 1050 it takes a bit to fall back down. That 1050 spot is a mystery for me to find! I can never get it right on. So I'm at about 1k, and I live with it! | ||

Mine seems to do it unless the idle is set at about 900 RPMs. Very annoying. | ||

another potential cause for hanging idle (IF the idle speed is correct) would be intake manifold seal leaking. | ||

I let the bike warm up for a little more than 5 minutes, gave the throttle adjustment a little more than a quarter turn to the left and she sounds better as well as responds better to a blip of the throttle. | ||

Every stock XB I've ever ridden has that off idle stumble. All 12 of the XB on the factory demo fleet had that problem. One of Hal's employees had an '03 XB9R with the race kit. That bike had way better throttle response with no off idle stumble. | ||

The idle hangs up on mine when there is a big temperature change inbetween rides. After a while it learns the new conditions and quits hanging up. It can actually take a couple of rides to fix itself. |
