Installed the Sebring today for my '03 XB9R. I was VERY happy with the sound! I read that it might be too loud, but I think it is very nice sounding. I took the baffles out right away. It's not straight-pipe harley loud, just a very deep rumble... pleasant.

I noticed that I lost some bottom-end power--that was expected, I guess. I have a race ECM that I will be installing soon... I'll also see if there is much a difference with the baffles installed.

Here are some pics: WARNING--LARGE FILES

Thats a good looking pipe. Looks like you have to leave off the chin spoiler though.

Where the heck did you find that pipe anyway? Do you have a link?

That's a sweet looking pipe. I considered one but couldn't find enough feedback to justify the leap with the price. Glad to hear you're pleased with it so far. RP

Nice looking design, extremely poor looking MIG welds (actually unacceptable to me). How much?

If thats the same pipe Dave had awhile back then you might end up being disappointed in it. Sound wasnt all that great & the exhaust tips dig into the ground on both sides.

Not the same pipe I had for testing. Is HSA and Sebring one and the same?
If this is the same company at least they listened to some of my suggestions for the inlet pipe section.
Yep, looks like if you lean the bike in the corners hard it will drag the outlet tips just like the one I had.
Looks like the same welder did this one.

I wasnt sure Dave, looks a lot like the pipe you had & those outlets will definitely drag.

If you are going to run without the baffles I would cut down the outlet pipes, like said above they will drag.

I've had the sebring pipe for over a year. I run it with the stock ecm on my xb9r. It's designed to run without the bafles and is then very loud....too loud to pass the noise test at the track. If you run it with baffles and there is a hole in the midrange power, My bike runs lean below 4000 and rich above it so a TFI unit will not sort things out. The pipe was expensive for me to buy in Ireland. Try www.customchrome.com. All in all it's a god looking pipe that adds a little bhp and torque, I'm not sure this isn't better value around. I'd be interested to hear if the race ecm helps.

BTW don't worry about "dragging" the pipe it doesn't happen and the baffles have no bearing on that as they fit within the mufflers.

I found it in the custom chrome catalog--http://download.customchrome.com/catalog2005/S_07a_05.pdf on page 43, and ordered it from http://www.blackhawkcustoms.com/. They list it at $845, but I paid a bit less .

It is designed to run the chin spoiler... I just haven't put it back on yet. There is a bracket for the spoiler that runs directly under the oil filter--I refuse to remove the exhaust just to change the filter--so it will have to go. I was thinking about cutting it off, and fashioning a bolt-on fixture for it. For the money, a better design would have been nice.

Thanks, smokedaddy, for resizing the pics... I also have a sound clip I can post as soon as I compress it--it's about 40MB right now.

I have to wait about a week to get the bike into the dealer for the TPS reset--so the race ECM won't go on yet. I also read a little about the snorkel... should I remove it?

As for dragging it--I will check into it--they didn't seem that long too me--but that worm's eye view does make them look really long!! hehe I will cut them off if they do drag.

Buelltroll--I am in Rapid City SD. Some good riding out here!!

HSA and Sebring are different companies, but both the Sebring Twister and the HSA Double Viper look kind of the same. Both Sebring and HSA were build for more midpower, maybe thats why they look the same. On the other side Sebring and Remus are the same company. I read somewhere that the dragging problems were only with the first generation Sebrings on XB12's.

Looks good, but I think the XB looks better with the chin spoiler. I'd find a way to make it work so you can change your oil without taking the pipe off.

Hurry up and get that soundclip up, I wanna hear it!

Couple ?'s though;
1) How much does it weigh, do you save any weight over stock?

2) Are you planning to dyno it at all? I'd love to see how it compares to other pipes on the market and even vs stock.

OK, maybe everyone won't drag it but I did.
Last track day I ground off the end of the shifter on the XB12R.
It won't be a problem on the street, or at least it wouldn't be for me.

Yesterday, I cut that bracket for the chin spoiler back so I could get to the filter easily. I welded an extension and a captive nut to the back of one side so I could bolt it back up--making it functional again. Haven't put the spoiler back on yet though... probably will tonight.

Here is the sound clip: http://rap.midco.net/thall72/buell/sebring.wmv (video, windows media player, 415Kb)

I didn't think to weigh it before installing it--the advertised shipping weight is 2 lbs. It is definitely smaller and lighter than stock.

If I dyno it, I'll have to wait until August--and try to get on one of those portable dynos they bring in during the Sturgis Rally.

I'll have the race ECM installed on Friday.

Sounds like it stumbles a little at the bottom, am I hearing it right? Can you compare it to other pipes as far as how loud it is?

Yeah, but that was the first time I ran it with the muffler... it cleaned up real good after running it a bit. It does pop on trailing throttle--need to check for leaks.

I can only compare it to the straight-pipe harleys that run around here all the time... it's not near as loud as them--sounds deeper--not crackly. The sound increase (compared to my buell race can) is most pronounced between 2-4k rpm--upper levels are still louder--just not as a dramatic increase as the mid-throttle difference.

$200.00 less for a D&D and the welds are much better looking. Or better yet I could have two Drummers

yep .. cold welds .. porous too .. tips too long for big lean (but really who gets big lean happening here?! ;p)

those welds will hold, but will rust eventually .. for professional job .. must have run out of gas!

Wild,
I wonder if we have the same pipe? They look the same but I can change my oil filter with minimal difficulty with the muffler in place. I have the dyno rums I had done before and after fitting the Remus/Sebring, with baffles and without and with and without a K+N filter, I'll try to find them (amid the chaos that is my workshop) and post them to you.
Daves,
Respect man, there is no way (even) you could ground the pipes on my bike and stay on board. I lowsided on the track last season....not a mark on the pipes though.

I fixed the link in my post--sorry about that!

I like the pipe--and will be looking for those numbers, Dave. I removed the snorkel last night, and will be looking forward to seeing how the ECM works with this pipe. I am also considering the XB12 airbox cover.

I think Dyna has some pics of my ground off HSA pipe ends.
Sebring maybe does their at a different "up" angle, so they don't drag?

No, I looked at the pictures again, I am sure I'd be dragging the ends.
