Anyone comment on HillbillyMotor's 'Splitair Rightside Airscoop' and/or NorrisPerformance's progress retooling their scoop?

Opto,
The language of that statement extremely misleading, meaning technically inaccurate. It implies an intelligence or processing capability exists in an oxygen sensor, which has no such capability.

An oxygen sensor is akin to a chemical battery who's voltage output varies according to the oxygen content of the exhaust. Yes, the sensor must also be exposed to ambient atmosphere in order to function, but it performs no comparing, it simply reacts, just like any electrolytic cell reacts to varying electrolytic potential. Would you say that a car battery compares the strength of its acid to that of water?

If an oxygen sensor must be characterized as having the ability to "compare" anything, it would be that is is comparing whether the A/F ratio is too lean, ideal/stoichiometric, or too rich.

The output of an O2 sensor is totally dependent on the relative concentrations of oxygen in the atmosphere versus oxygen in the exhaust pipe.

When you put 38psi of air in your tyres it's really 38 + 14 = 52psi, but COMPARED to atmospheric pressure it's only 38. Does the tyre pressure gauge "compare" pressures or does it make a relative or differential measurement.

It's really just a play on words, what's the difference between a differential measurement and a comparitve measurement?

Ref: Here's your sign....
I don't mean to hijack this thread but could someone explain the cultural reference to me? I saw a redneck comedy tour film that included a very funny routine using this phrase but didn't really know where it came from. Is it a sign that stupid people have to wear around their necks or a bumper sticker?
Blake: Please feel free to shift this elsewhere if it looks like getting out of hand!

Back to how the scoop actually impacts the bike.

Fan came on yesterday for the first time since I installed it four months ago. Rode about 50 minutes in heavy traffic (15-20 MPH with lots of shifting). Temp was about 85 degrees.

Fan stayed off until shut down, where it ran for about 2 minutes or less.

On the way back, the average speed was about 60-70 MPH. Fan did not come on at all.

Prior to scoop, that fan would have been running on the Interstate and the heat from the back of the bike would have been intense. Yesterday, I noticed no heat from back there.

I would say this scoop works big time!

Brucelee, your bike must be much quieter than mine - how can you tell if the fan is on or not while going 60-70? It's almost like I need an idiot light to tell when it's on.

My fan is very loud and makes quite a bit of vibration so I know it is on at higher speeds.

Well, if the fan gets running while your moving it tends to run for a while after you slow down or stop. So I can tell it's been running at 70mph when I get onto the offramp and hear it.

I ride my bike. My fan comes on, it goes off, it comes on again...Then I stop riding it comes on, it goes off. Rinse and repeat. It still makes my cajones warm.

I took the bike for a 20 minute ride and the fan did not kick on when I stopped. Seems like this bad boy works as advertised

Greetings ---

What paint(s) was used on the right side scoops? I've just received one and I wanted a good paint that wouldn't come off.

Thanks in advance,
Barry

I Use Krylon Fusion for all of my Plastic and fiberglass needs. So far it has adhered to everything I have put it on. The left side stock airscoop is a flat black so I then topped off the krylon with some flat base paint from Plasticote and it matched perfectly.
