Just finished finally getting the "Christmas Tree" exterior damage corrected - no more "life under tarping" for me. Great to see you! Sorry for the interference of the overburden of gray hair, Cheryle (aka Sheryl) Will you be on the BRAG ride? It couldn't be much closer to your neighborhood unless it was held in Breck. As for me, the new Uly holds some promise that I might be back in the fold next year. Don |

Wow, that will certainly change the look of your yard. Not sure if we will be atending. We moved to the Phoenix area for a time this winter. Then came back to Breck, got my same job back but don't have vacation time until next year. May drop by in the evenings. I wonder if there will be any thing close to 70 plus riders we had here in 2001. I think the Uly would be great for you. Are you comming up this way next week? Kim |

Yupski! That was my favorite Colorado Blue Spruce, too! If you know of anyone needing firewood or mulch in Boulder . . . I cannot quite get my mind around participating in the rally from the cab of my F350 . . .but I might be headed back to work on the ranch (Colorado River near Moab) in the next week or so. If I am traveling at a decent hour I will give you a shout, the beer is on me . . . and I will buy, too! Don |

Court: It was an honor to be of some minor help, and my efforts barely make a dent in the many paybacks you are due for your contributions. I will let you know when the next trip to Maine clarifies. Don |

Honu, I will be leaving Albuquerque with another rider sometime Tuesday morning. Are you taking the freeway all the way? Depending on your Itinerary, maybe we can hook up and ride together. We will be riding the back roads into Colorado. Some of the Santa Fe riders will be leaving on Wednesday. Bart |

I had such a great time! I met the best people, and rode with some awesome bikes. I haven't ever been able to push myself like I did there, and I loved every minute of it. How can I get Buell to pay for me to go to the events so I can promote Women on motorcycles? That would be awesome! I would love to see more women riding Buells - it's a huge market out there that is just waiting to be tapped - Hey! if any of you that can pull strings out there are listening - I want to help Buell promote women! I am going to the Appalachian adventure... I just don't know how I'm gonna get a bike there, lol! If anyone has a spare bike that I can ride please let me know! THanks! |

I enjoyed meeting all of yall and putting faces to the names. I'll do another one of these rides for sure. The people and organization were great and the riding wasn't bad either... I got back home sunday evening late and the hardest part is putting up with the triple digit weather. The 5 day forecast had all triple digit days and 'lows' of 78-80 degrees... I wish I could have brought some of that nice cool weather back with me... I won't be at the Appalachian ride but I'll try to make some of the next ones, see yall there !!! Kevin |

Kate: Good news . . . ever since Alison started the first Buell Owners Group rides in Atlanta, Fran circled the USA on a Buell, Carol led the "Ride for the Cure" closing leg on an S-1 and Heidi completed the Pony Express tour women riders have played a large role in Buell's history. In fact, I'd bet a significant % of the Bell City group are gals. It's always been just. . . well "part of the deal" and never seen as a social novelty or phenomenon. In fact my wife, who screamed for years about someone actually making riding gear for gals, thinks it's pretty cool that Buell has an actual choice of "gal friendly", from the BLAST to the lowered XB, bikes to choose from. Sounds like the Rockies were awesome! Court |

same here Dbird, it was good meeting you,and everyone else at the rally. I really had a good time, and enjoyed meeting everyone. I'll never remember all your names, But I'll remember your face. I'll have to get something going down here in New Mexico to entice y'all down here for a little fun in the sun. Reepi, The bike handled the load no problem, but was a bit cramped in the seating department. Certainly not as roomy as my S2, but lots of fun nonetheless. I'll see if it can make it to New Hampshire next year with out killing my butt. Kate, YOU crack me up! LOL everytime I look at that picture of you with those ear plug horns I chuckle. Your a character, glad to have had the pleasure of meeting and riding with you.

Yeah, it says "DEMO". It was from the demo fleet that they had out at Copper Mountain that weekend. Many of us on the rally went over and rode the demos on Saturday. I didn't get to try the Ulysses, but I did try a Lightning Long and it was nice. Compared to my Firebolt, which tends to fall far into corners, the Long just kind of gently tips into them. It's only two extra inches, but it makes it handle quite a bit differently. Nice. |

ughghhh yeah - this is what happened: I was going to work in the morning and decided to try a different way to get there since our company had just moved to another part of town. I was going along just fine, and got to an intersection with a light. I was going to make a right at that intersection. The light was red, so I began braking, and when I was almost stopped (going about maybe 10mph?) the light turned green, so I just began to make the turn - and it was like I never had traction and the bike just slid out from under me. It was like a dream - I have no idea what happened - it really just blew my mind, because I wasn't going fast at all. What I think happened is that I just had a moment of inattention - I wasn't "in the moment" and I don't know if I just leaned too far or what, it was very strange. Anyway, I ended up on my stomach somehow with my bike about 3 feet away. I rolled over and sat up in total disbelief and watched the guy in the car that was behind me go around me (I was in the middle of the road at that time) and just look at me as he was passing. Then about 10 more cars drove around me without stopping or asking if I was okay. I couldn't get the bike up so I was just standing there trying to heave this thing off the ground, feeling like a sideshow as people are passing me and staring out their windows. Finally this nice couple pulled over and the guy asked me if he could help me move the bike and if I was okay. He said he couldn't believe that everyone just passed me like that - well that's America for you "United We Stand", right? My personal thought about that is it's actually short for "United we stand, as long as it's convenient for me" So I got the bike to the side of the road, and waited for my fiance come and help me out. Surprisingly, there is no rash on my helmet, jacket or gloves, just a little on my SIDI boots (I am SO glad I got those) and my work pants were all torn up down the whole leg - my knee was scraped (actually more like a burn) but it's almost all healed now. As for the bike - THANK GOD for the frame pucks! They pretty much saved everything. I got a little rash on the tail, my rear brake is worn down to about half, the front brake lever broke completely off, the right side clip-on had to be replaced because it was slightly bent, the whole end of the bar was scraped off and a little rash on the right mirror. Overall, not too bad. On a good note, I got new stuff for the bike and it looks better than it did before, and I didn't break the bank doing it. I bought a new clip-on and a new lever, the traction hand grips and bar ends. I made myself axle sliders by buying a pair of frame sliders for a suzuki and a steel tube - I just tapped the tube to the correct specs of the sliders and stuck them on - they look sweet - I will have to take a picture and post it. Okay - so here you have the "Adventures of Kate" Lesson #1 ALWAYS be aware Lesson #2 Wear pants with protection! (ouch!) Lesson #3 Don't have too much pride Lesson #4 see Lesson #1-3 |

Dude, sorry to hear about your belly flop. But at least the damage was minimal. Look at it this way: You're now pre-disastered. Since there are two kinds of motorcyclists (those that have crashed and those that will), you're now in the better half of that scenario because you walked away virtually unscathed. |
