Hey folks, I am wanting to change the color of my header pipes. They are black chrome now, but I scuffed them up a little. I was wondering how much it runs to have them ceramic coated, maybe in a black. OR Maybe just find out if I can use a high heat paint on these? Has anyone done anything like this recently? |

I think Jet-Hot charges around $150 including shipping and everything. Might be a bit more if they need to remove old coating. I had my header Jet Hot coated in black. Complete waste of money in my opinion. Not much different that if I had painted them myself. I noted no difference in heat output and ended up wrapping them with header wrap. The silvery coating Jet-Hot coating however is apparently a worthwhile investment if that is a look you like. There are also other coating vendors who will provide much the same or possibly better product. Maybe others will chime in. |

Of note... You CAN NOT weld on the silvery jet-hot coating AND it's VERY hard to grind off... even with a high RPM die grinder. Keep grinding until you get sparks if you need to weld on it. It transfers heat exceedingly well. |
