Whats the likelyhood that my bike CAME with a 26t front sprocket(pully, cog whatever)? Last night, found out my top speed is around 130..revlimiter limited.... On the up side, I was walking all over everthing else till right around 120, when my buddies 748 caught up and passed...then the rest passed me... I ask becuase, first I know, no speedo is worth the crap after about 90-100(except, in a cop car), And, my buddy's XB9, passed me at that point as well..... Not angry, or even embarassed...I have more USABLE power...but...just wanna know.... Chase |

Your bike comes stock with a 27 tooth front sprocket not a 26. Harley/Buell does not even make a 26 tooth. It is an aftermarket only sprocket. 130 top speed is about right for an X1. (Message edited by buelliedan on June 21, 2005) |

Chase, I've been clocking my speedo with a GPS at triple digit speeds, it looks like the speedo is pretty damn accurate, at least within 5 mph. Of course the GPS could be way off I have no way of testing that. I've been able to test to abut 123.4 or so |

The rev limter on a tube frame domestic bike with 27 tooth front pulley should kick in at around 140 mph give or take a fair percentage due to effects of varying tire sizing/wear. |

I think 130 might be a little slow for a '99 X-1 but it's in right the neighborhood. I saw 135 on the speedo on my Y2K-M2 once while I was going down hill with a tailwind. I thought there might have been a few MPH's left but not many. Then again, maybe your speedometer is just more accurate than mine. BTW: According to a Buell Pulley Gearing [Excel] Spreadsheet (that I would be happy to e-mail to anybody that wants it), the actual top speed of a tuber Buell at 6,800 rpm with U.S. gearing (27 X 61) is 138.8 mph. Full Euro gearing (29 X 55) equals 165.3 mph @ 6,800 rpm in 5th gear. Sixth gear in a Baker six speed unit is a 0.85:1 ratio final drive ratio, as compaired to the 1:1 Buell fifth gear. You can do the math for top speed and RPM's at, say, 70 mph. |

You are absolutely correct Blake! 142 to be exact, remind me to tell you about it someday. That is a little slow for an X1. Ken |
