a little project that hit the front burner again

step 1:

find that LP camera mount and think....

something about this just aint working

step 2:
think, ponder, scheme

gather up some scrap, do some cutting and drilling

figure out that this idea has its shortcomings.

step 3:

go back and rethink, ponder, scheme. Then start cutting, drilling, sanding

-uses the gas cap ring for a mounting point
-maintains access to the gas cap with out disturbing the camera
-can dismount the camera and leave the mount on the bike.
-camera mount position is somewhat adjustable
-mount plate can be reversed to sit on the right
-spacer provides clearance for the tank and has rubber isolators for non-scuffing action and possible vibe absorbtion

Now all you need to do is link it up with a button or two on the hand grip.

Oldog,

guages are by EQUOS and are 1.5" mini mechanicals for volts, oil press, and water temp. btw the water temp measures the oil temp at the bag outlet to the engine.

Smoke,

you might be on to something there..... Now have some footage to review. adjustments to be made and additions to be had.

-a remote is needed along with an idiot lite for cam status.
-a security tether for the just in case moment
-bike supplied power source, damm battery....

Ohh, I have not missed that one just yet. Testing is in progress.

Have other parties interested in this mock up. Or other adaptations of it.

Picture is stable once the rpms are up and the bike smooths out. On board audio sucks! Wish this cam had an external mike connection. Recording in a digital format rocks. Record, dump to the puter, play with it, save as a video file.

Nah, one does not need to speed up the tape.... Just find some interesting corners and lay it over.

As for the guage package, I would like to make it a one piece deal in the future.

As for the camera mount, minus the LP stuff still in use. The inside hole leaves nice access to the fuel cap. Used a 3 1/4 hole saw and a drill press for them. All the other cuts were done with a jig saw. Which was mounted upside down thru a worktable. A lot easier to see the scribe lines in the layout dye. Outside corners were done the hard way with lots of relief cuts. Then a disc sander to take it down to the finish lines. Final finish on the parts is still up in the air.

Now that I know it is a decently good design. I want to make another with some minor changes/upgrades to the set-up. Even going the next step and designing a similar set-up for other makes.

Now to pull it back apart and make some minor changes and do the finish work. Thinking about anodizing it in black and lazer etching a logo of some sort onto it.

Already have a design drawn out for a buds ride. Running it by him this friday. May start work on his this weekend.
