Sam, Now that the trip to Laguna is booked, we need to work on the real important issue! Where to find beer! List of Microbrews in San Jose and Monterey, CA 1) E & O Trading Company 2) Mission Ale House 3) Waves Smokehouse & Saloon 4) Britannia Arms 5) Trials Pub 6) Gordon Biersch Brewing Company 7) Shark & Rose 8) Kings Head Pub 9) Campbell Brewing Company 10) Rock Bottom Brewery <---- this one has a fitting name! 11) The Mucky Duck 12) The Bulldog Pub 13) Crown & Anchor I think we might have a new goal! Might be a good thing that Frank and Mike are bringing a vehicle with 4 wheels! Keith |

Tripper, He has plenty of Schlitz light it appears, because I won't drink that sheet! Ok maybe at 4 a.m. Sam, You think we should tell Mike that it wouldn't be a good idea to try to walk back to the hotel on this trip? He has a bad habit of that! In case any one is concerned the B.S. ordinance Shawnee was turn down for later view. The news said something like 500 bikes showed-up to voice their disapproval. |

Ryan, First off, let me say that this warrior may be getting old, but not so old as to forget you and your M2. I remember all to well the forgotten battles of yore.....(humor me, I feel a good one coming on), you fought tirelessly, bravely, and with great aplumb throughout your attempt to besmirch my ego. I have the spoils of that very event hanging here in the room. It reminds me daily that the likes of you are out there.....always waiting, always searching, perpetually challenging. It reminds me that If I am to keep my exalted status amongst my peers I shall need be ready for you, vigilant against the uprising.... It reminds me.....most importantly it reminds my wife that once upon a time in a land far, far away, I did something right, at least once. (well four times to be exact) So did you want me to scan it? Can I send you a copy? Autograph perhaps? I'm going mad with all the "home" time....As much as I would enjoy a roadtrip and to see all of you guys again, responsibilities at home are going to keep my mileage down this year. (I can't imagine how many of you are laughing right now at me using the word responsibilities, let alone spelling it correctly) never the less my Wife and my Daughter are in very dire need of my presence that weekend and every other. Without me here, my wife (whom I love dearly) would spend the entire sum of my savings over the last six years (all three dollars and twelve cents) and my daughter might start acting like her mother, both of which it is my unending duty to prevent. tell the boys I said "hey" and make sure you get some pictures on the board for the ones who can't make it. I appreciate the offer and it's good to know someone out there knows I am capable of making a cross country run on a whim......maybe I'll wake my wife up and ask her? She'd probably break my fingers...I'd be better off if she continued to think I was surfing porn all night. you guys are going to get me in trouble! which weekend is it? Tripper, I will make it a point to stop by, I should bring the beer! at least this time I didn't get talked into helping move the player piano.....up three flights of stairs (j/k) Digger, "You think we should tell Mike that it wouldn't be a good idea to try to walk back to the hotel on this trip? He has a bad habit of that!" no, hahahahahahahahahahaha Do you think he'd make it back? I mean think about it: If we start dropping him off (leading him to... err...water) further and further from camp, how far do you think we would have to go before we lose him?houdini actually vanish? not possible! Chris, See you then no rainsuit! no rain! Rusty, congratulations on the fix, we had a lose compensator (Stator) nut on an X1 over this way this weekend....thought It was going to be something way worse, Glad it ended up being what I hoped it was. So was he! Keef, That does not look like an Ebay Item, looks like a lot of work went into that.....awesome! who would have guessed you could knit? just kidding! See you guys tomorrow night as long as Richie didn't just jinx the weather, I'll still be there! |

You're ALL invited to the HoAME club Rally at Clinton Lake on Saturday, May 21st. It's FREE! There should be a good turnout of vintage bikes, plus field events (come show us how to do it!), a swap meet, BBQ on Saturday night (get there early to buy a ticket) and lots of great people, conversation, and fun. The Rally is at the "Bloomington West" Group Campsite on the west side of Clinton Lake. It should be a good ride from Kansas City plus great weather. Looking forward to seeing you all! Joan and Jim |

Shazam, Your post above is suspiciously similar (in character and length) to others we've seen from DAS and his multiple personalities. Has fatherhood generated an extra personality or two? Can we expect more elightened and volumious prose in the future? Are you thinking of joining the Feds and carrying a gun? Are you planning on staking claim to the beer in a refrigerator that is not your own? Just curious. This new trend just might liven things up around here. |

Well today was somewhat interesting: It all started Tuesday, The local city government is trying to impose a noise ordinance that targets motorcycles in particular, and imposes heavy fines. The local MC community put together a ride to City Hall in protest. I rolled the bike out and buzzed by the HD dealership to see the masses gathering. While lurking in the Service area It was pointed out to me that there is a ring of grime pretty low down on my fork sliders. I explained that I had just trailered it back from Colorado and that was why it looked like my forks were travelling way down the sliders, it had been strapped that low. On Wednesday, in anticipation of the Brag meeting tonight, and everyone's curiosity, I spent a couple of hours cleaning the bike up. make the white stuff white and what not.... nothing out of the ordinary, cleaned the ring of dirt off the fork legs and checked torque on all the important fasteners.....good to go right? I get home from work today, get geared up to ride a little before the meeting and low and behold there on the floor my bike has bled to death....fork oil in a puddle six inches in diameter. a bloody nose. "Victoria" is down for the count. This is not good! aside from some exploratory riding (rechecking limits of adhesion and what not..) This was to be the big debut, in public, eating asphalt, rip-snorting, fangs bared.....big debut. Well, the XB14 sits needing a fork seal. no big deal right? it's five O'clock plenty o'time... No seals at the closest dealership(no longer carry Buell, but still always take care of me), No seals at the Brag sponsoring dealership that I was to be at in two hours (semi-convenient). No seals at Daves' in Appleton (was going to have a set next day aired) would have gotten them on monday....this is getting frustrating! Dave, being the pimp`s pimp, dealer located me a set at a dealership in wisconsin somewhere, after telling me there were none in Missouri, none in Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa.... So I had the pleasure of chatting with my good friend Dave for a bit, got off the phone and called the Dealer in Wisconsin, ordered two sets! twenty dollars worth of parts and it's a damn scavenger hunt. I know I could have ordered seals locally but Wis. had them in stock, which having played this game previously, is a head start. So I am standing in complete dissapointment at this unfortuitous change of events, meeting in an hour, a bike I can't ride to the meeting, and a Beautiful spring day and evening lurking.....bummed Did I forget to tell you I had a pair of fork seals in my hand fifteen minutes later? Let me blow your mind with this one..... I am looking at the lump of bike in front of me, and thinking to myself, Self, you have all of these spare parts lying around, tell me Self, why? If the part you need is not here, why bother with all of this....and then it occured to me.... All of the hand Levers, shift linkage parts, handlebar tubing, wheels, tires, filters, brake pads, fluids.... they all exist in my garage for one reason.....To prevent downtime, to keep me out doing what I want to do, riding. who else do I know who shares this passion? who else do I know who's shelves overflow with spares? who else do I know who would despair as I am at downtime waiting for some trivial part? ....who else do I know who breaks a lot of ?....the local buell stunt boy, that's who. I called Jeff at MC worx, he has three pair, come and get some! "I'll have time to pick them up on the way to the meeting" said I. "the meeting is tonight?" said Jeff "here take this T-shirt and shop towels bearing my Harley Stunts logo and raffle them to the Brag group I am not going to make it". I leave towards the meeting bearing gifts for some lucky soul(be sure to thank Jeff next time you see him, he is as sick in the head as I am and will appreciate it), make a few phone calls, and decide since I will have the front end apart I should just go ahead and re-shoe the girl. All those dyno runs will Kill a tire. Just so happens another dealer on the way to the meeting has a set of Michelins in my girls size on sale (the few phone calls)... So now I have some work to do for tomorrow. I still want to make it to the dragstrip tomorrow night, The meeting went well, and I think I was the only one dissapointed in Victoria's absence. They all went riding afterwards.......lucky bastages. A lot of people missing from the meeting tonight. we missed you. Dinner, a few beers, and I've got two fork legs and a set of wheels ready to go to their respective surgeons in the morning. If all goes well, I'll be back on the road by five. and at the Track by Six. If anyone wants a heads up as to whether or not I am going to make it out to KCIR tomorrow make it known and I will call. I want to thank: Zeus, Frank, and Max at Central - Dave at Appleton - Steve at the Dealership I ordered from - Jeff Scneider at MC works - Kyle at Freedom Cycles all for making my day of "motorcycling without motorcycling" enjoyable. You probably don't hear it enough. all cool peeps. what a day. Ain't it fun. someone get the lights |

Ryan, I regret having to inform you that on May 15th 2004 our wild buddy Sam had a vasectomy. Gone are the days of jumpimg on a motorcycle and driving hundreds if not thousands of miles in persuit of happiness. Also gone are the days of hangin out at Texas convenience stores, doing beerbongs, dancing on stages, and crawling in at 4 a.m. (oops almost forgot racing around a parking lot with a burger king crown taped to his helmet) Sam's life has made a dramatic change. He now has a microwave, a coffeepot, HoHo's on top of the frig, shower rings hanging his shower curtain and a VERY VERY LARGE father-inlaw. He also has new responsibilities that include getting up at 4 a.m. and disposing of dirty diapers. Sorry you missed the wake! Keith p.s. Sam did I miss anything? |
