hey folks i just picked up a used 2003 Blast with 520 miles on it. i already ordered a V&H full system. they were out of the Jardine and the White Brothers so i opted for the V&H. Cams.... i hear Hot cams makes a set for the blast. i'll place that order soon enough. do i need to change out anything internaly when installing the cam?? (on my dirt bike i had to change the springs) i'm lookin for an intake system....where do i find one or who makes one?? anyinfo would be appreciated. has anyone put a Keihin FCR carb on a blast before?? i have done several searches with no luck. i have a 40mm keihin FCR pumper carb and i was wondering if anyone has ever tried to make one work with a blast. FCR carbs are so much better carbs than vaccum type carbs IMO. thanks in advance newbie |

Welcome - please read the Blast mods in the thread above this one - Springs, guides, and seals are recommended, also to bring the cams to their full potential raising your rpm limit is a must - you need to change the ignition to do that - most use the SE version, but others have used Crane Cams, etc. - check for clearance when installing cams - cams may need clearancing - what about a Quicksilver double pumper - like KTM, Panther, Husqy, and other euro singles use? Given the extra modifications to use a different carb and the minimal performance gains by doing so, I'd go with all the other mods (exhaust, cams, head, piston, ign) first, then if you still really want to swap carbs go for it.Its just not the best bang for your buck. |
