hi all...i'm looking for a shift reverser for my 2000 x1...u know..i want 1 up and 4 down rather than 1 down 4 up..any suggestions on a good brand,and or website would be great...also..does anyone have an opinion on the footpeg/shifter relocator on american sport bike?? tha one that move the pegs well aft of the derby cover...thanx all...prez | ||

Road,It depends on which shifter Prez has. I have what I think was the race/performance shifter that goes below the derby cover instead of up and over. I have seen a couple of them on E-bay, but I am not sure where else you can pick one up. Prez if you could post a picture of the shifter you have now it would help. | ||

if you've got the updated shiter (runs uner the derby), just reverse the bit what bolts to the shift shaft (say THAT 5 time fast!) | ||

Prez: First tried to tweak the stock shifter, but way too many pieces and travel to make it any thing close to precise. Bit the bullet and spent the money on a Banke, different world! | ||

I've also used a Storz lever in conjunction with the old linkage...but the new style run reverse works a bit better. | ||

i actually dont even have a shift lever rite now..i layed tha bike down and it was ripped off... so it's prolly on the side of the road still..lol...but i do appreciate the suggestions ... if anyone can think of anymore i would appreciate it...i wanna see the different options i have...thanx again everyone...prez | ||

I had a Hodaka Superat when growing up, the shifts were unreliable. Revved the crap out of that 2 stroke. Seemed to always find a neutral. | ||

i know on my M2 i just switched the linkage around to the other side of the shaft coming out of the case and it works just fine. i wouldn't want it any other way | ||

Keith, You should see how the Hodaka shift internals work. Very weird. They used a spring loaded "slug" on a shaft that pushed ball bearings out into the gears to lock them to the shaft. It's a wonder you could find gears at all! It was quite the suprise the first time I opened one up. I had been used to working on Jap dirt bikes of all varieties and a few Sachs thrown in for good measure. Totally different.. Kind if cool really.... |
