Well I finally did it, went down to Glendale HD/Buell and got a black XB12R. My first new vehicle. I'll be picking it up tomorrow morning just in time for the long weekend. Since I actually have a Buell now I'll give you a little background on myself. I've been checking out badweb since last November I think and it's a great board. I've always liked Buells but thought it was a little weak to use a stock Sportster engine in a sportbike. That is until they came out with the White Lightning in 98. Then I knew I wanted one. My little claim to fame is I was one of the first few hundred people to ride a XB at the Long Beach MC show in December of 2001. The other sportbikes I rode that day or ever was an Aprilla Falco and Lightning X1. Didn't like how I had to rev the Falco to get anywhere. I loved the Firebolts low-end torque; it was like comparing an American V8 to a high winding import. The Falco did have more power but it's not like you can use that power on the street too often. The build quality of the XB felt light years ahead of the X1. At the time it didn't make much sense to buy a X1 when the XB was a grand less. I haven’t owned a bike in about tens years but have ridden friend's UJMs and my dad's softtale when I went back home to Mass to visit a few times a year. One last thing, does anybody know a good place to buy gear in the LA area? I am looking to get a new helmet, jacket, and boots as soon as I can. Didn't really like the selection at the dealer. Thanks for reading this long post and hope to be meeting fellow badwebbers in the future. Brian |

1st. Welcome to the elite ranks of the southern California Buellers. 2nd. Chaparral is a good place to get gear. You might want to take a look at http://cyclegear.com also. Go to store locations. There are some in the L.A. area. (Message edited by Bbstacker on May 28, 2005) |

This Bike is sweet! The more miles I put on it the more I love it. So far I have only ridden around the valley showing it off to friends. Today I plan on putting as much miles as I can, maybe go up to the Angeles forest. Takes a while staying below 55mph. Thanks for the links guys, there is a Cyclegear near me so I'll stop by there in the next couple of days. |

Ahhh the madness is setting in. You might as well say goodbye to your friends & loved ones now. Soon all you're gonna want to do is ride and they'll hardly ever see you again. At least that's what's happening to me. Have fun! |

Congrats on the new bike and welcome to Badweb as a Buell rider/owner! You are going to love the bike. Make sure the suspension is et up for you. Did you get it from Ernie? |

Thanks Buellgirlie + Dave. I did get the bike from Ernie, he went over the suspension settings with me before he rolled it out of the showroom. The ride and handling are worlds better than what I am use to. Cool guy, he has a few HD Sprints from the 60s-early 70s. My first bike was a 67 HD Sprint SS. Dave do you have any frame pucks in stock? Glendale has them on backorder for another month or so. So far I got 300 miles on my bike. Couldn't ride too much today since I had a bunch of errands to run. Yesterday was a big day, hit the Angeles Forest and Malibu. It has been a real pain keeping it under 55 on the highway. Not even the old ladies here do that. At least on Sunday afternoon, during the week is a diffrent story. (Message edited by socalbueller on May 31, 2005) |
