Next step will be to get on the phone and start calling Buell dealers to see who has one in stock and just get it shipped over already. |

I ran into the same thing with my fairing support bracket. My bike was down six weeks. What can you do? |

Hmmmm, I hope I'm not in for a rude suprise. I called the shop just a few minutes ago and they said the parts had come in and it would be saturday or early next week and they would have it ready... Told him I'd heard that the parts might be on back order and he said, he didn't know anything about that. Said he had seen the boxes that had come in from UPS himself... Hmmmmm
This info is from one of the service writers.
I had mentioned this to them on monday and another service writer said if it was on backorder they would try to find it at another dealer...
Now I'm confused but hopeful...

Woohoooo... part is released, Red Labeled and is en-route.... maybe I'll be up this Sat...who knows. Customer Service lady called them and lite a fire under someone's •••. |

How about requesting a comparable loaner while it's being repaired under warranty.
I'm not certain (it's been a while I looked into it), but the lemon law may require your dealers to "timely" repair your bike; if they can't repair it timely, they may need to replace your bike. Ask your State's general counsel's office regarding timely repair under warranty.
I once wrote to the manufacturer complaining and invoking the lemon law in Virginia for the dealer's failure to timely replace O2 sensor for my car. The part was not available in the US (my car was one of the first in the US for that particular year/model). It took them about a month to get it replaced.
The manufacturer (not the dealer) gave me a rental car (not from the dealer's lot, but from a rental car agency) for the duration it was not fixed. I believe they were obligated. |

I have made that request at the 2 Buell dealers in town each time the bike was in for warranty service. No dice. I assume they would be a little speedier with service if I was clicking miles on one of their new VROD's while I was waiting for mine to be returned. |

Yea, I am a bit disappointed about the time frame. I'm fully expectiing it to be at least tuesday until I get my bike back. I took it in last tuesday. 2weeks!!! I"ve taken my truck in and you get it back in a couple of days. The car blew out a gear and it took a couple of weeks also to get it back, but I did get a rent car gratis... Some people might think XBs are toys, but I use it for TRANSPORTATION !!! Gosh Darnit!!!  (BadWeb approved strong language)

Kevin.my XB has been down for 2 weeks so far.Get use to it.The dealers are to busy putting chrome on the Harleys they sell. |

You can NOT compare automotive repair situations to motorcycle repair situations until you see as many bike repair shops and bikes on the roads as autos. What is really killing me about this thread is the attitude that all these delays are Buell's fault and their dealers. I know I couldn't walk into any of the local major import dealers and expect them to have a stator in stock for most of the bikes on the showroom floor. If they do, its because it happens to fit a huge number of bikes, and even then, I doubt they have more then 1-2 on the shelf. Not because of reliability, but cost and space. A motorcycle doesn't have the parts availability of a car, straight out, just isn't there. I am not just talking a Buell, I am talking ANY brand motorcycle. IF your chevy dealer happens to be out of stock on that new alternator you need, what do you want to bet he has ATLEAST 50 sources within FedEX distance to get one from? Can you say that about any motorcycle? When you can, then I guess you could legitimately and rightfully complain about the lack of parts and service. Tatsu is in a bad spot, Hawaii itself SUCKS for parts for ANYTHING. Whether its your Honda Civic or your honsukikawamaha. Most shops there keep the bare minimum of stock, and everything else gets shipped in. When you have heard the phrase "its logged in for the next barge out of Longbeach" after waiting 3 weeks for a part, then you will understand. |

Hey Wycked, I understand what you're saying and you've got a good point. And I got my bike back today after only a week and three days, hooray... And after tightening up the clutch adjustment which was left COMPLETELY LOOSE, I got it home. I used tools which were in the back of my dads truck because I didn't want to wait for the mechanics at the dealer to do it. I don't know about you, but THAT leaves a bad taste in my mouth, if you know what I mean...
I've had to take my bike to the dealer 3 times for warranty work, nothing major but 2 out of the 3 times(different dealers), a small thing like this happened which made me wonder if the mechanics were competent or just in such a hurry that they didn't check their own work...
Not trying to start anything but can you understand that this would make you want to bitch a bit... That, and I get grumpy when I don't get to ride either...

Not picking on you, but define "completely loose" for me? 1/16th-1/8th inch of play at the lever is the recommended in the manual and the norm seems to be 1/8th-1/4 inch at the lever on the showroom floors and when my bike has been returned after any warranty work. |

Completely Loose. Adjuster nut completely backed off from end that it tightens againest... Where the nut goes againest the adjuster, the nut was on the other end of the threads...
Yea, I know you're not picking... Not loosely adjusted but just plain loose...

I just got back in from the garage to adjust it out. I tightened it at the shop and did the final adjust just now... And damn, it's hot out there... I think summer is here...
I adjusted it to a bit looser then a 1/16 and I'll see what it feels like tomorrow...

Just to update everyone. The Stator finally made it on Tuesday May 24th, bike is still in the shop. I really wanted to ride this weekend but it looks as if I'll be watching everyone else, again. |

Hang in there Tatsu. I'm sure withdrawls are killing you right now but once you get her back & are riding again, The joy you'll have will counter it all & this will become just a faded bad memory & nothing more. |
