I only smoke the rear wheel when I want it to, which is rarely. But it pulls awesome from that rpm in any gear. |

in stock condition, without wheelie bars, or lengthened swing arm, the vrod WILL most assuredly outrun any thing you could stuff into the XB chassis in a standing quarter mile. that is what it was built for, and it works very well. comparing a 52 inch wheelbase to a 67 inch wheelbase is..... like comparing a vrod to an XB. |

I read a mag that showed 1/4 mile times for many bikes, the XB12 and Vrod both ran right around 11.3. So it seems the XB12 would catch up to the Vrod just at the end of the 1/4mile. |

Sam, Make sure you post your results. I would be very interested. Have you got that monster to the dyno yet? |

shaz: sounds like big fun. please report back. Q: are you running other than stock primary ratio? the the kenai peninsula HD shop was playing around with both a demo and a repo, and stuffed the xb9 primary sprocket and chain into a 12, i did not ride it, but it was claimed to pull 3rd gear roll on wheelies. the tech said it would pull the front up at 1500 rpm in first, around half throttle, no clutch. they said it was a bunch of fun, but they took it apart before some one got hurt. |

Shazam - Could you give me some tips on how to launch an XB? I always end up wheelieing like an idiot. What's the proper technique? |

That's right, you can't do BattleTrax on a V-Rod... I loved the crowd's reaction every time one of the sliders...er, I mean radiator shrouds scraped the pavement in the curves. Just like you can't run a V-Rod at Deal's Gap... Feedback from the Sportsters behind me (who later caught up to me - don't fool yourselves...) was that I was throwing a good stream of sparks in the curves on the Gap. 1313 |

VROD can handle, just that when your use to a larger lean angle you scrap more parts. Course, with the Street Rod out I wonder how it will do. |

The trip to the strip was a little disappointing. In that I only made it through the line three times......It's was some big mopar weekend so there was a lot of turnout fri night. I had a lot of fun, this version of the XB NEEDS a wheelie bar or extended swingarm! period. With only three runs I certainly didn't get the launch figured out. I did however find out it will pull the front wheel any time through third. I tried scanning my timeslips and have them now in PDF and JPG but can't get the resolution legible in the JPG and don't know if I can upload a PDF? So heres the poop: 1st run, 2nd run, 3rd run 60' 2.280, 2.140, 2.124 330" 5.445, 5.351, 5.238 1/8 7.936, 7.823, 7.702 MPH 98.79, 99.68, 99.85 1000 10.119, 9.976, 9.850 1/4 11.994, 11.831,11.706 MPH 119.17, 120.08, 119.52 certainly not a super pilot... my 60' times are horrendous and repeatedly so. I just couldn't get it out of the hole without getting in and out of the gas about six times, second gear is just as bad. but when it settled in late second gear it just pulls. I have video that I will try to get hosted this week. I am servicing my rear exhaust header studs (loosened up) so I can try to get back out there (the track) on wednesday. I think there's another half second in this thing, probably more. Jerseyguy, I'll let you know when I figure it out. used to I'd just roll the clutch out nice and slow at about 30-3200rpm. I wish I could find my timeslips from when it was stock, I remember the 12.2 but not much else, I would be curious to see the difference in 60' times |

Shazam: Look into getting some fork straps for your bike. I read an article in a cycle mag where they tested a Ninja ZX6R with and without strapping the front down and lowering the rear. Stock it ran around 10.9, strapped was around 10. He did change the sproket to a larger size but not much. |

I always wondered how to use the passenger pegs properly on my V-Rod... 1313 |

I tried the forks straps last night and it left better but got into a serious tank slapper about 330' into two runs. I think the rake is too steep to strap it as far as I did. I thought about letting the straps out a bit for the third run but was running out of time. I took them off for the last(third) run. better...11.48(w/straps and getting out of it during the wobble) but still haven't gotten my 60' under 2.0, if that tells you how much of a handful this bike is. I ran a 11.52 on the third run without the straps. there's a bunch more here, don't know when I'll make it back out. |

Shazam: You need to lower the rear the same amount as strapping the front. Gotta keep the bike level. May want to check into a steer dampener |

Your suggestion makes alot of sense. I softened the rear but didn't lower it, trying not to get too addicted to this. I got home last night and took a long look at the extra swingarm I've got?????? I figure when I start modifiying parts I'm losing what I bought this thing for. However If I can quickchange that's another story. Hell, I change a bunch of stuff for trackdays, why not for the strip? Just having fun....but a 10 would be sweet. |
