What is the going rate for a new XB12s or XB12r after bickering, negotiating, arguing, begging, pleading, flirting (yuck), cash back, secret dealer hold back, super-secret hold back, etc.? What kind of deal did everyone get? I recently saw the post for $7500 XB's in Tennessee and it sounded pretty good, but has anyone out there got a better price that that on a new one? |

7500 for new is about the going rate n a pretty good deal. I paid just under 10 in03 with the 5 yr warranty n everything. |

$7500 would be great, but I would fully expect that I am trading a great retail out the door price for a bike that will no longer have that local dealer to service it. And I would not be suprised if that price somehow magically morphed before my eyes and went up by $2000 by the time I managed to get out the door with the bike. I paid more then that for my 9sx. But my dealer is still right here across town serving me, still selling Buells, has most parts I want in stock, and understands (or is willing to take the time to understand) what I want. Price is definately something to consider, but just one of many factors, especially on a new bike. |

$7500 sounds more like the price for a 9 than a 12. I would be surprised if you could get a new 12 for that cheap. A couple of dealers in Phoenix had the 9's and City's advertised at $6995 plus fees. The "FEES" part always scares me though...you never know how much they are going to charge for "set up", "filing fees", "doc prep", etc... |

Yep, the dealer in TN bought them from a dealer. Put them on ebay, got noticed, got reported, they aren't on ebay anymore. It is against your dealer agreement with HD/Buell to sell new bikes on auction sites. I guess they wanted to keep their franchise. 7500.00 is a steal, waaayyy below dealer cost. Bet they are a great Buell dealer |

Be sure to see if these are "new" bikes as in never titled, as in demo bikes. Also, some dealers are dropping the Buell brand, and may be blowing out their inventory. If it is a new, non-demo, untitled XB12R, then take it! |

You can be sure that Frederick is not dropping Buells, In fact they are very enthusiastic about them. I would bet this Buell has miles on it, mine did when I bought it ( 50 ). They just installed a full race kit, full fairing and all on an 05 9R for demo, but the dang thang sold before it ever hit the floor! |

Cool! With so many dealers dropping Buell, it's refreshing to hear some are keeping them on. We're in the same boat, and are trying to draw more people in, investing in apparel & parts, and of course, the bikes themselves. Our sales manager & lot foreman both ride an XB12R, I ride an S3T, another tech has an XB9SX, and the owner has an X1 White Lightning painted with an American Flag design on the skins (our shop being Liberty H-D/Buell). We all believe in the Buell brand, and want to see it succeed, being the only American sportbike out there. |

I paid $9000 OTD ($7850 B4 TTL) on NOV 1 04, and I assumed (incorrectly) my dealer was dropping Buell. They have several new ones on the floor now, so go figure. This "discounting" is one of the reasons our bikes aren't worth much used... Good thing I'm keeping mine forever! |

I got very lucky. Local Buell dealer (Manchester H-D/Buell) placed an ad in an obscure newspaper insert magazine. Ad ran 3 weeks prior to their open house. Ad was for 12R & 12S for $6995.00 but you had to bring in the magazine ad... in which I was the only person who did... and bought a new '04 XB12S for $6995.00 as advertised. The salesperson brought the ad to her boss and he exclaimed, ", someone found that damn ad!" So, again, I got lucky... and am very happy, so far, with the bike. Only 250 miles... but I also own a '99 S3T, so I knew what I was getting... and very humble that I could take advantage of such a great motorcycle opportunity. |

You have to be a pretty smart dealer to lose over 2000.00 on a new Buell and stay in the business I guess? |

"You have to be a pretty smart dealer to lose over 2000.00 on a new Buell and stay in the business I guess?" AMEN, Dave - I just love all these "stories" about how "I bought an XB12R for less $$$ than anyone, anywhere, anytime". Yea, there's good prices out there on "left-overs", 1-2 year old demos, and "distressed" inventory, but $7500 for a BRAND NEW XB12, come on !!! We all like to "brag" about getting a good deal, but when someone tells me they bought a NEW bike for LESS than dealer cost (at a Harley dealer, no less), I'm less than "impressed". Here in Memphis and Collierville, the local HD dynesty is Bumpas HD/Buell, you can look them up, I think they will have competative prices on XB's but I don't remember just what the pricing was. No need to worry about them servicing your bike because their service and parts is pretty crummy. Good luck. |

Eexb There are good deals on XB`s if you shop around. In 2003 i was looking for a 04 XB12. One dealer wanted 13,500 plus tax, title, setup, and all the other BS, crazy. I finally found a 04 in december of 03 at a dealer in PA for $8200 OTD. I have also seen dealers selling XB 12`s on ebay for $7900 atleast 3 or 4 times. |

I really hate it when people talk about "OTD" prices, OTD will be different everywhere. Not to mention some people include different things in their "OTD" price. I live in KS but drove 20 minutes east to buy my SV650 in Missouri, so I didn't pay any sales tax, registration, license plate fee etc etc to get it "out the door." Now I still had to pay sales tax, registration, plate etc at the KS DMV a few days later...but I didn't hae to pay it to get the bike "out the door." So OBVIOUSLY my "otd" price is going to be signficantly lower than someone who had to pay sales tax/registration costs/license fees/etc to get their bike "otd"....even if our sale price was the exact same. |

Whats the big deal? So some dealership is trying to liquidate. The $ I was quoted Saturday for the last remaining 04 XB (12r) in their stock was $7500.00. I was not not informed as to it being OTD or not, and assume it is not. I am sure it has miles on it, again, I don't know. Actually, my only thought was, it is a great deal on a great bike. I have a friend in Richmond who is interested in getting a bike, and I have passed the info to him. As for me, I bought mine from this same dealership last June, I paid Retail. Hell, even with 2k down, and 10 payments, the balance on my loan is more than the selling price of this one. SO. I have almost 9000 miles and smiles under my wheels to this point, and am not worried about "Great Deals" out there. Lets face it, these are not the hottest selling bikes on the planet. But then, I like being the only XB12r in my neighborhood. |

Hey Greg.. Guys.. Come on.. I bought my 9R from Frederick as well. They did me a really good deal on the bike (IMO) I paid $10K for the bike (new) with the race full race kit, the colored parts currently on it (in my profile and elsewhere here)etc. That was "OTD" and since I live in VA and they are in MD.. I actually got some money back on taxes when I registered it. Yes, they sold me the bike for less than MSRP. I'll bet, if I had gone to Daves with the same requirements back then, he probably could have done pretty much the same thing. It's all about how much they NEED to move that bike off the floor. They wanted it gone and I got a killer deal, so sue me 'cause I got lucky. (IMHO) As for the - "You have to be a pretty smart dealer to lose over 2000.00 on a new Buell and stay in the business I guess?" - I remember a local car dealer having that problem once. They put a small ad in a small paper outside their area. The paper mis-printed their sale deal and anyone that walked in with that ad in hand got a killer bargain on a new Oldsmobile. Now, what happened with the paper and the legal stuff I have no idea. But to avoid really getting nailed (bait and switch) they honored the messed up price quote for the week it was listed as valid and (I guess) went after the paper for the difference? |

Good Godess Mother of Dragons! My eyes just simply do not believe the prices they see. I paid full msrp on mine. After taxes & all the other crap I paid 12,196.99 for an 05' 12Scg. Unless you have cash on hand, it's hard to haggle with a shop that sells so many Harleys that they don't need to sell a single Buell. I don't mind the prep fee but is a freight fee fair if the bike is already on the floor? I could understand it if you had them order a bike for you but when's already there seems kinda scuzzy to me. |

Be careful, it seems that some HD dealers are dumping the Buell line. Good deal doesn't mean you are going to get good service down the line. I would avoid wholesale dealers until Buell gets its distribution channels worked out. |

Uh guys... This isn't the first motorcycle I've purchased from this dealership. They've made plenty of money off of me in these many past years. Try 9 new Harley's between myself and my wife + untold chrome/accessories. So I got a "once in a lifetime deal". What's the big? I didn't FORCE them to sell the bike at that price. I even told them that if they didn't have those two bikes (2 serial #'s listed in the ad) that I would understand and not make a stink. I didn't HAVE to buy the bike. They made the deal happen for me and I'm just tickeled pink I was there and able to take advantage of it... and it's not my concern whether the dealer makes money or not. It's their business and they can run it the way they want. Besides, I've never heard of a Harley dealer going out of business... and Manchester H-D does a booming business... |

"You have to be a pretty smart dealer to lose over 2000.00 on a new Buell and stay in the business I guess?" ... It makes it a little easier when you have almost a 40% mark up on apparel, accessories, chrome, etc....and sell a TON of them.... Think about it, a person busy a Harley, they go back and buy acc, chrome, t-shirts, etc.... When you buy a Buell, you may buy some parts and a shirt (if you can find one).... Example; retail on an H-D beanie is $19 or so, and cost the dealer about $10, is made in some foreign country and probably costs $5 to manufacture.... I am not saying a Dealer won't lose money selling less than MSRP, but they won't lose that much, unless they are just liquidating their Buell fleet.... |

I paid RRP AUD$. There was no bargins for me cause the shop knew they would never see it again unless there were warranty claims. As for my neighbour, he got a 12R the following week and got $1000 off, bringing it nearly to the price I paid, but the dealership knew they were going to be doing everything but wash his bike cause he asked lots of dumb questions, and that is where they made the money. |

bought my SX about a month ago at Chandler HD for $6999. It had 200 miles on it and was sitting outside in the "used" section. I figured it was a demo and asked if it had been previously titled. Salesman checked, and sure enough...demo. I traded in the old pickup, gave my mother-in-law back her sporty, and I've been "Citified" ever since. |
