Funny thing happened to me on my bike yesterday well, it was funny but wasn't. I was going down 78 in the middle lane, the cars were stopped at the light. OK the best way I can describe this is by saying- The cars in my lane were stopped 3 deep, the left lane was backed up a bit further and they are 6 deep, now I am at least 3 car lengths behind the stopped cars in the left lane, approaching 'the gap'. When this guy hauls @ss to get up along side of me in the left lane, he has his windows rolled down and is yelling at me trying to get my attention. I turn to look at him, then look up at the car that is now 1 car length in front of him and STOPPED. He looks up, slams on his brakes and HITS the car in front of him. I just couldn't believe it, there didn't seem to be too much damage just munched bumpers. I was in the middle of traffic and didn't see any reason- or way to stop but man I feel for the guy!!! Guess he'd never seen a Buell before |

I had stopped by SMHD early this week and picked up a copy of Full Throttle mag. and wasn't sure if everyone had seen the write up on March Badness with Erik Buell and the 3%ERS'I thought the picture of the the metric bike at the bottom was a bit funny. I wish the pictures were a bit larger. Everyone faces are fuzzy. The May/June Fuell mag. came in and had a write up on track time and a small part called 'Getting in tune' about suspension setting for the track. Remember that the track isn't the street or the mountains. Seems like I've been hearing some real bad advise and myths about setting you bike up 'LIKE THE RACERS DO AT THE TRACK' a cool rider I know bought an XB12S and had the bike set up per owners manual setting and had few mods done and would sling the bike in and out of some of the best twisties in the mountains and the go back to the street. Point is that the Xb is a very nibble bike and with a good rider on board the bike you can be very competitive. Ride safe! |

RAIN! Just who gave it permission to RAIN! Thank God, Kdan and I went riding yesterday or that would make it 3 weeks outta the saddle. I felt like I was starting all over again yesterday. But it was a good "beginners" ride. We went to Berry College and then rode 53 through Calhoun, Fairmount and over to Hwy 515. Was hit with my 1st rain experience (other than when I was in the intermediate class. They said they wouldn't charge extra for that). Braveangel, can't wait till you get your Blast so when you just "Aren't feeling the need for speed!" you can come help me be the "rear guard", keeping the pack safe. Then maybe, Kdan can go play with the big boys and stop calling me "Pokey". Hey, please, someone show me where the speed limit signs do not apply to bikers? Ooops, I mean Buellers. |

A courageous return... Aoki riding a Honda wheelchair motorcycle (photo courtesy Honda.) It was great to see Takuma Aoki lapping at the Motegi GP this past weekend. Takuma was a brilliant Repsol-Honda 500GP star before a horrific track accident during the 1998 pre-season abruptly ended his career. Initial hopes for a recovery were quickly dashed; permanent spinal-cord injuries left Takuma paralyzed from the waist down. Takuma comes from a proud racing family. After winning both races of the 1996 World Superbike round at Sugo, Takuma stepped up to the premier 500GP class in 1997 along with older brother Nobuatsu. That year Nobu finished 3rd overall and Takuma ended up 5th in the world rankings. And as if two Aoki brothers weren't enough to scare the competition, youngest brother Haruchika is a world-class racer in his own right, having won the the 125GP world championhip twice. Nobuatsu is now the Proton KR factory rider, gearing up for the V5 MotoGP racer next year. Haru decided to a year off but still enters the occasional race in Japan, recently placing a fantastic 6th place finish in the prestigious Suzuka 8-hour race. It's nice to see that Takuma is still keeping up with his brothers. He spends his spare time sharing his love of motorcycle racing with the younger generation:
