I have a project in mind for the S2, since nobody around here seems to be all that interested in buying it. I'm thinking about building the bike I really want, a DS type bike, extended seating area and some extra carrying capacity, something for gravel roads 2 up with fairly long legs. I need a 19" wheel to mount up a suitable tire, like an Anakee or even a TKC80. I like the power curve of the engine and it's frugal nature-there are some long lonely stretches without fuel stops (I got caught in Chicken, Alaska without fuel and had to buy some off a miner). A chain drive conversion is also a good idea, given my plans for the beast. Power and weight wise it should come in about the same as a BMW GS but since the bike is paid for it will be significantly less expensive.
If I can't make a 19" or 21" wheel fit I'll have to change the whole front end which I suppose is doable and may even be preferable. If anyone else has other ideas that may be interesting I'm all ears.

Gnomad, sounds like a cool project. Who knows, maybe Buell's going to introduce an adventure-tourer next month?

They will...why not go with dirt track wheels? You could make things simple and use Harley hubs. Excel makes rims that'll work and Buchanon for spokes. Fab out some brake and wheel spacers and you'd be set.
