So, what's eveyone using to author DVD's or CD's. I've always used Roxio EZ-CD Creator for CD's and what ever came with the Vid camara. The CD's worked fine but the DVD software was a bit klugy and limited. I recently bought the EZ Media Creator 7.0 package. I'm having nothing but trouble with it. I don't do a lot of DVD creation but have a project I have to get done real soon. What's eveyone else using? Brad | ||

Pinnacle Studio 9 is great for making DVD's. Easy to use, powerful, and lots of cool features. My dad uses it - I've got version 8 and just haven't had a chance to upgrade. | ||

ULead DVD Creator. I haven't seen Pinnacle Studio but its supposed to be great. The most important features are the menu's and subtitles IMO. ULead has good features for menus but not perfect. | ||

I have Nero, ULead Creator, Adobe Encore but usually just use Nero. If you're really into PhotoShop try Encore. Otherwise I just use Nero for quick n dirty. I started my editing with Pinnacle and probably still have a license for 7, but I have not seen the new versions. | ||

iMovie, iDVD, Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro. Works really well ... of course you'd need to be on a Mac ...  Henrik | ||

I use pinnacle studio as well. I tried the adobe product, but still prefer pinnacle. My buddy with a MAC uses Final Cut Pro and loves it. | ||

insert DVD rename drag files onto DVD icon drag icon 2 trash and wallah...a freshly burned DVD! no third party software needed. of course if you were a mac user you already knew how easy it is!  | ||

I think by author he means making a complete DVD w/ menu from media files incl chaptering, subtitles, alternate audio etc. I don't think the Mac does that out of the box. 'course it should since it costs twice as much... So to make a CD/DVD you drag it to the trash? interesting. | ||

The free iLife software that comes with every Mac does a great job of putting together slick DVDs for everything short of professional use. When I started adding up the costs of comparable software components to do the same thing on a PC, I found my dual G5 to be cheaper ($1800 when I bought it last year vs a comparable Dell setup that, with software, would have cost me about $2500). To do a full-blown pro DVD you need the pro versions of DVD and Final Cut, which list for $1300 (with audio mastering and animation software included). Add the cost of a dual G5 and you're still in the $3500-4500 price range. For a pro this kind of money is *nothing*. For the rest of us, the iLife suite simply rocks...for free. |
