Well, I finally got to ride the lighting today/tonight..... I dont know what to say, other than HOLY *&^%... The throttle is sensitive, and its cold blooded.. BUT THE TORQUE, I have neer ridden anyting with this kind of power to weight ratio....FUN.. I mean, I have had older hogs...but, they really arent that powerfull, AND they weighed a ton.. Thought I would throw my praise in(though I know I am a few years late... Anyway, NOW... As for the mods, I looking to get a couple pictures..of a catch can mounting(area).. The darn rear double fender issue, I got the plate locator, but not the whole kit, shoudl I just ante up and get that? And the FI needs the primo fuel correct? Other than those dumb questions, I am gonna have a blast with this thing... Chase |

Be carefull, X1's will take over your life like mine has. I can't get enough of it. If I not riding it I am fiddling with it or I am tring to find time to ride or fiddle. It becomes a sickness. I only run primo in mine (she is worth it) Al |

Well, X1's are like S1's that need a diet! All Buells are cool, though. |

put close to 150on her today, and..I am really pleased... The only thing I have noticed, is it seems to load up, then surge... But I am hoping that will change withthe race ecm.. I am going out side right not to do the exhaust, ari filter etc.... And thanx...but yeah, I do love it..... Anyway... Chase |

X1's are considerably wider and heavier than M2's and S1's...especially the slim tank bikes. That's all. They're fatties, IMO. |

ok, here is teh scoop thus far.... Put the race ecm on, did the TPS thing(well, my local harley dealer did)... And, its actually running like azz, the catch can REAKS of gas, it wont idle, its either at, 2k, ot BELOW 1k, loading up, missing and surging around town, but it seems to be okay on the highway... Yes, I did the 10+ miles(actually did it twice, second time at around 20miles)... It seems to me that this thing is running WAY RICH, I have been in contact with Al @ American Sport Bike, who I will say, has been EXTREMLY helpful and patient.. I just went out and bought an O2 sensor, I am gonna get plugs tomorrow(any help on the gap would be appreciated), and I am probably gonna grab a head temp sensor as well... Anything else I should try? I have had cammed up twins in the past, but the fuel infection is really throwing me off, the next step, a nice good ole fashioned Mikuni... You thanx in advance.. Chase |

Chase if you havent been here http://www.saintjohn.nbcc.nb.ca/marriott/x1/ it has been very helpfull for me, so far the autolite plugs are good , stay away from the Harley plugs they foul easy. My breathers are letting some oil into the air box I dont know how serious this is yet but most people eliminate that. Im debateing what to do, you know older cars used to suck oil in and I have been told that some oil down the intake is good for the valves but those talks were aimed at cars and tractors. Im not sure what effect the bit of oil going into my intake is haveing YET. Surging? Sounds like a Ox sensor, good luck . I got some ngk plugs to try next they seem like they are winners. I love my new X1 too. Keep her on the streets! (Message edited by mmmi_grad on May 11, 2005) |

Well, actually, I already havethe breather kit done, with a catch can.. That said, (I am not new to motors, jus the FI thing on bikes), oil down the intake can cause it to run a little rich, andf shorten plug life, the cold air from outside should be cooling the vavles on the intake stroke... I am gonna grab those plugs today on my way home from work, and do those with the O2 sensor, I will report my findings(of course). As far as keeping it on the road, I have been almost 2 years without a bike, and I am making it for it, I have out a butt load of miles on it already.... adn other than the issues Iam having right at the moment, thuroughly happy and impressed with this bike.... chase, you seem to have the same problem i had, longstory short, the fuel pump was pushing too much fuel. it wasnt throwing a code or anything and it took me a while to narrow it down to the pump. anyway check your fuel pump, replace it, then reset the computer stuff |
