Does anyone have any recommendations on a performance exhaust for S-1? Currently I have stock header with V+H ss2, loud will be ok, it is for track days, and I plan future engine mods. Fred |

If you can find one a KT components exhaust, my bike with that exhaust, pro series style air cleaner, xb heads, CV40 carb and lightning cams makes 92RWHP Same set up with a stock header an slipon 85RWHP Now since the KT is no longer made I would also suggest a Force or a Kooks full Header, Kooks stoped making headers for the Buells BUT a little birdie told me that the factory still has a few layin around for your bike. |

I'd suggest the Force Street Fighter if noise is not an issue. |

Force is awesome power but be careful. Some tracks have noise limitations and the Force will get you kicked off the track. |

Track days over here (UK) are getting very strict. Would you believe that I use a loud pipe on the road and often have to re-fit the oe muffler for track days! The last day organised by Buell UK for Buell owners suffered like this. They wouldn't let out any new XB owners with race kits fitted (you know the ones marked not for road use). Apparently the line from Buell UK was that they are for US race use only ". |

Yeah, the Force is WAY loud for street use. My brother had one on his M2 and when riding behind him I could feel the shock waves. He eventually took it off cuz the neighbors were getting REALLY pissed, but man, did it make the PONIES! He pulled out of the drive if front of me once, whacked it open, and throttle-wheelied up the street through second. I was impressed, anyway.(although I don't think the neighbors were) |

Force seems maybe too loud. Does anyone know about west-tek? I found their website, but no one answered the phone. Looks good, stainless and all. Fred |

Bon't overlook the Buell Race Pipe. It works great and has a great sound, barky but not enought to people off. Hodakaguy |

Hodakaguy, can you still buy the Buell race pipe? It is a 2 1/2" collector, right? Fred |

I've got a Buell race header with a 4" Supertrapp automotive muffler...like the early Buell race systems. The muffler has been bullet proof but the header has cracked a couple times. I've made a best of 84hp with a 4" velocity stack and 82 hp with the aircleaner. Best part is being able to tune the power and sound. Even with an open endcap it's real mellow at low revs and not too terribly loud on the top. It's a stock '96 motor with the original Lightning style heads. I've seen the race header on Ebay pretty frequently. |

'98 S3T Race Pipe + muffler. "Race" ignition, and "Race" carbon fiber air cleaner. 97 RWHP at the teressi dyno drag last fall. I most certainly would recommend it. I'm happy with it I got 50% off a set of Pirelli Scorpions mounted and balanced to do this at Hal's HD

Try the Buell race kit (pipes, muffler, & EFI)sounds great and makes good HP (99hp & 87ftlbs on the dyno with bread box) use the header mount from American Sport Bike, it hasn't cracked in 30k+ miles |

Well, as long as we're talkin' Buell Race Pipe, I'll jump on that wagon! Love mine! Makes enough noise to wake the neighbors, but not enough to make 'em call the cops. HP boost is really decent. Holds up well to corrosion, etc. Looks "brutish" enough to go well with your tuber. Doesn't make as much HP as the Force, but you can live with the noise on the street. |

you can't beat a pipe and muffler race tuned by the factory for your bike. Buell Pro Race pipe and muffler rules! 98 S1 with Buell Race kit 99 S3 with Buell Race kit |

I have a stainless Supertrapp slip on. That makes it the best. |

I use a D&D full race system on my X1. Power Commander, race ECM and ham can got me 85RWHP right before I dropped a valve. |

Race kit header and muffler make hard to beat power. The older pipes were all back to back tested in Battle2win years ago and that's the conclusion of the test if memory serves. Between KT, Kooks Force and Buell Race Kit there wasn't a lot in it. Rocket |

I wonder if Kevin could do a Drummer-type mod to a tuber muffler? I posted the question over at Drummer's sponsor thread a few days ago but no response yet. I'd think that a Drummer tuned for an XB12 would be pretty close, at least for the later S3's. |

Y'all got me convinced I wanted the race pipe so I stopped by my friendly Southside Buell dealer about a month ago and guess what -- They don't list them anymore!!! So much for waiting for getting them on sale.... It wouldn't hurt so much if I hadn't bought my S3T planning on buying a Borla just to learn that they dropped that one. My previous bike had a V&H. Not a bad looking pipe but once I heard my bro and a few of his buddies riding it I thought it was just a touch loud (some neighbors are saying it wasn't that bad so maybe I'm being too touchy here. I really don't want to buy something without seeing and hearing it first but I'm not getting out much lately. What do the Drummers sound like? |
