Just curious to see how much to replace a head gasket. First I thought it was a Rocker box gasket leak and was on my way to fix it myself..but when I took off those 4 bolts and found out it was a sliver down...bummer don't feel like I can do that myself..Anyone got an Idea of how much will cost to fix??

Har1ey....I've been away for a while and I'm catching up on some posts....just try tightening the head bolts a bit. My 01' X1 had a leaky rear head gasket, and it worked for me. If you have to replace the gasket, 90% of the work is done once you've got the rocker's off.

The head gasket is between the cylinder and the head.
You are describing the lower rocker box gasket, the one between the top of the head and the bottom rockerbox section.
Do you have a service manual?
Easy fix once you are there.
Make sure you get the newest gasket set and you'll likely never have to do it again.
I would do both front and rear while you are at it.

Yeah...there's more than just four bolts to come out to completely remove the rocker covers...the rubber seals aren't the problem area. It's the crap paper gaskets that leak. Get the metal one's and you'll never look back!

I just took it in to SouthSide H/D today...thanks for the input but since there installing DaveS's fabulous D&D system plus need to mount the new rear tire and some misc others...might as well just have them fix the rockers while their at it...
